Unjustified do not rent on Dollar Rent A Car files

In 2006 on behalf of my company I rented a van from Dollar Rent A Car.  As we had done several times in the past. We called in a reservation from the office and I went to get the vehicle. At the time I was asked for my license and business credit card. Never any mention of rules pertaining company drivers except for their terms and conditions stating company drivers were allowed to drive the vehicle.

One we of the workers was involved in an accident. We returned the car, and felt confident that the repairs were on Dollar as we obtained their damage waiver for any damage to the car.  Wrong.

A few weeks after return Dollar loss control contacted us about the damage stating the company was liable for the damage,  at that time we we proved it was a business rental and felt confident that the issue was resolved   Wrong again

Jump to today, I went with a family member who rented a car from Dollar to be listed as an additional driver on his rental. This in when I found out I was on their DNR list for the incident 9 years ago.

When enlightened of the matter I called the phone number the rental agent gave me ( of course the rental counter would not assist in making the call at that time)  the first call to the 800 number provided led only to obtaining another 800 number which then led to a minimum of 6 transfers from departments of Dollar and then to Thrifty and where ever else they transferred me about the only thing these people could tell me was I was on the list for unpaid damage however one lady went as far as telling me it was for them having to send an agent out to locate and retreive a car  ( bs never happened) finally a women told me I would have to call a 405 number so I did.

Now that the call was on my dime or let's say my dollars for all the on hold time I was once again instructed to call another number  this was hope  the agent Rhonda informed me I was not on the list and to go back to the rental location and if any problem call her back. Well the return call was needed however this time different agent  who after several minutes now gave me another number to call

Furious I left the location called the number and after 40 minutes with one agent going no where, except for finding he was well adversed in using the word "well" getting P.Oed I asked for someone above him. That when ms arrogant got on the line.

Telling me that the driver was not covered as it was not a business rental  and at the time the driver was sighted for not processing his license and that the only one who could settle the matter was the collection company who purchased the account 8 years ago.

The dispute I have is

1. Why I am held personally liable for a BUSINESS RENTAL

2. Why when the loss prevention originally called and agreeded it was a business rental things were not settled

3. What did the premiums paid for their loss waiver apply to  ( note as I recall the rental was for a month or more) at how much a day for their coverage?   Did a third party insurance carrier which provide these types of coverages actually pay the claim?

4. Why over a course of 8-9 years of them having this claim on file no suit for recovery was ever filed

5. Why was I told today that the reason I was DNR was due to what would be considered to be theft of a vehicle

PS  now I have been informed that the rental companies share information  THE Extortion Threat  pay us more or never get a rental car!!

I'm ready to see their story and which one they want to use Damage or Theft that today they stated to me was the reason
