An article posted in the April 5th edition of The New York Times here...

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/06/your-money/for-car-renters-signing-on-the-electronic-tablet-may-mean-trouble.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

...describes how Dollar Rent A Car routinely lures customers into unwittingly signing for car insurance coverage on an electronic tablet even though they had verbally declined it.  Many customers do not need such insurance because their personal car insurance policies provide rental car insurance. People who were ripped off in this way say counter agents smiled at them and gave verbal assurance that they were not charged for insurance options they didn't want.  Nontheless, when they signed rental car insurance contracts using an electronic screen, they were in fact charged options that they had declined and did not want.

Hertz owns Dollar and its sister company, Thrifty Rent A Car.  Shame on all three companies for these deceptive practices! Two lawsuits against Dollar Thrifty are seeking class-action status.
