Dollar Rental Car - Tampa, Fl. Airport Dollar RAC-Refuses to rent car without deposit for customer over 25 with good driving record! Tampa Florida

Bought a travel package for an employee to Tampa,Fla The car rental through Dollar. The guy arrived at 7pm at night and had a c/card with enough credit open to pay the taxes and fees stated on the RAC agreement. Dollar wanted a $250.00 deposit in addition to the $100.00 in fees and taxes; which the employee did not have. They would not even allow me to pay it for him on the phone and so he ended up having to rent a cab. This employee doesn't have a bad driving record or bad credit. I've been in business 30 years and never had any issues of this sort. From now on I know better than to book cars with Dollar. I booked my car through Alamo and it was no problem.... I did everything through a kiosk... not even an agent involved. Another employee I sent to El Paso Texas rented his car without a hitch as well. All employees of the same relative ages and driving records.

That you would give the Standard "You must work for them" response when you know you don't have anything of value to add to your "RipOff".

Since you are talking about shooting oneself in the foot you should probably look around this site and realize that it is pretty much Standard Operating Procedure that when someone doesn't agree with a post..they instantly go to accusing that person of working for the company.  And sorry to burst your bubble but I don't work for this or actually any other rental car agency..I just rent cars on a regular basis and know how it works.

So just one more comment..

That's why I went with the employee the next day and rented a car from Alamo; whose employee was courteous, reasonable and accomodating

- You WENT with the employee to Alamo..where it looks like you may not have even talked to an employee but used a Kiosk.  But even if you did talk to an employee it was in person, with Dollar you talked to them over the phone...Ummm as the other poster said.  Think about it.

"Not everyone in the world likes to use a lot of credit"

That's fine if they don't want to rent a car.

"travel extensively and rent cars regularly for myself and many employees"

Think about it. That should make it apparent that there is something you don't know about one of your employees.

Lies and Mischaracterization; Phony Rebuttal?

I do understand that RAC companies require a deposit. That's why I paid with the RAC with my company credit card and got on the phone with the Dollar RAC Manager and offered to give my credit card to the RAC company on behalf of the employee for the deposit. Both Dollar employee's I spoke with were simply rude.

That's why I went with the employee the next day and rented a car from Alamo; whose employee was courteous, reasonable and accomodating. The rate was better than Dollar too. Dollar may have lower advertised rates; but then they try to nickel and dime you to death with add ons and unreasonable demands like this.

Contrary to your comments about the employee's credit.... they do in fact have good credit. Not everyone in the world likes to use a lot of credit and that does not make them have bad credit nor is it a sign of bad character. In fact; on the contrary; in times past when our country's dollar was worth far more than it is now it was during a time when the norm was for people to pay cash for things and not to use credit hardly at all. Our country would be in far better shape today had we all stayed on that track than it is now with the wide spread use of credit. Talking bad about your (potential) customers is not a way to gain more of them... by the way.

It's pretty obvious that you work for Dollar in some way.... and are not really a consumer.

I see that there are plenty of complaints against Dollar on here and I would expect that if Dollar does not get it's ethics in line soon that there will end up being some kind of Class Action lawsuit against Dollar in the near future.

It's also worth mentioning here that I have been renting cars for more than 35 years and am the CEO and/or CFO of 4 different corporations. I travel extensively and rent cars regularly for myself and many employees.

Silly rebuttals like the one before me are just shooting themselves in the foot; since there are a lot of choices and I will not rent a Dollar car in any market any day soon because of the poor attitude and feedback I am seeing here.

Shame on you Dollar!

What's BS you say..

Your attitude thinking that just because he has "good credit" he is special and doesn't have to be treated like everyone else.

Well first there isn't a single Car Rental place that will not allow you to rent a car without some sort of deposit.  If that deposit is in the form of a credit card..that card MUST be in the renters name.  So he was treated like EVERY other customer is treated.

The reason you didn't have a problem or the other person didn't have a problem is because you had enough available credit on a credit card for the deposit..and yes they did hold a deposit.

By the way, if the first person truly did have good credit..how come they didn't have a credit card in their name with $250 available for a deposit(that gets released as soon as the car gets returned).  Perhaps their credit isn't as good a you are trying to make it out to be.
