Domain Registry giv.com giv.com Fake domain expiry notice, older adult (80, my mom) sent them a check in error and they have not yet returned fund. Jersey City NJ
Sent a Doimain Name Expiration notice trying to alarm/fool my mom into paying them to "renew". I already have a service and had already been renewed by them. I contacted them in May 2020 and they "Kevin Smith" stated a check would be mailed in a week.
It is now July 20, 2020 and STILL NO check. Contacted them at 844-855-4367 and spoke to this Kevin aka "Smith" whose larconic responses are irritating in the extreme. Avoid this scam company at all costs. I still don't have my mom's (who is 83) check back.

Beyond simply sending fake renewal notices, they have 'borrowed' content from other websites a non-profit owns and then sent fake renewals for the that duct tape contruction directly to the non-profit's finance department in the hopes that they find some willing to pay 8x as much as a .com domain is worth to keep that highly plagiarized website online.
Give them nothing and take the small comfort that they at least wasted the $ and time to register than domain for cheap from Ionos and probably some $ on freelancer.com'ing the fake site.
I'm guessing they only target non-profits or other people percieved as cash challenged out of a worry that richer targets would straight up sue them for the copyrights they violate on the faked site.
