I went to the dealership and spent NUMEROUS hours...I picked out a vehicle, offered a clean title for my trade and was told that since its late in the evening no one is in the office to approve the financing and that I would have an answer by 10 am the next day.  I told the dealership that i had $4000 to put down on the car but that i would not have the money until the end of the month.  The salesman Jason Johnson gladly offered to hold a check for me until the money posted.   I went back to the dealership at noon on the following day and was told "Its your loan, all we need is five references and a pay stub."

While filling out my references Jason Johnson coached me into telling Crescent Trust and Bank (the finance company) that i put a cash down payment on the car...I then talked to Tim Carpenter, the "Finance Director" (or lack thereof) and he continued to coach me saying that i made a cash down payment and not to tell the bank that they are holding the check.  I signed the loan paperwork and he refused to give me a copy of it until the check posted.  Also as soon as i got home with the car, i noticed that the "change oil" message was on.  This only shows when you first crank the car.  Each time i got in the car, it was already running so i never saw it.  The car also had stains in it and Jason offered to reset the oil light for me.

After a week of driving "my" new car, i got a call from Tim Carpenter stating that my salary on my paystubs didnt match what I said on the application and that he needed his car back.  This is AFTER I spent almost $400 dollars on car insurance for the car as well as purchasing a remote since they did not provide one with the car.  I went to the dealership to return the car and to get my car back and he said 3 more times that my salary didnt match and they they look at me YTD in determining my salary.  (which is incorrect BTW).

I took my old car home and immediately called the finance company.  They stated that "oh no sir, its your rent that caused you to not get approved for the caI went to the dealership and spent NUMEROUS hours...I picked out a vehicle, offered a clean title for my trade and was told that since its late in the evening no one is in the office to approve the financing and that I would have an answer by 10 am the next day. I told the dealership that i had $4000 to put down on the car but that i would not have the money until the end of the month.  The salesman Jason Johnson gladly offered to hold a check for me until the money posted.

We have your correct salary but the amount you pay for rent puts you above the ratio." Tim Carpenter lied about why the loan was denied, Jason, Johnson didnt offer to find me a cheaper vehicle and told me that the amount of the car i am looking to purchase has nothing to do with the approval (which is false--when i called the bank they suggested i find a cheaper car).  It seems that Jason, as well as Tim is incompetent.  Tim does not know how to multiply out a salary based on hourly rate.

I will never again step foot into that car dealership.  Tim was rude about the whole thing and even accused me of making up a salary on the application.  Never did he apologize for anything, for wasting my time, etc.  Had he verified my rent,  when i applied for the loan, this would have been avoided.  I should have known when i went there three different times and there wasn't a single customer in site that there was something wrong. r loan, not how much you make.

Car Salesmen and Auto Finance Managers are NOTORIOUS for being CROOKS & LIARS

If I was you I would take my $4000.00 and buy a good used car outright. Find someone on hard times. Last time I went to a dealership was a few years back and I was very inexperienced in dealing with a dealer. I was looking for a used car and they told me on the phone that they had such a car as I was looking for. A Ford Taurus. I had $2000.00 on me and I went down by myself. I knew my credit was good and the salesman had agreed to accept $1000 down. Well, I got to talking when I was sitting in front of him and mentioned "Yeah, I have two grand on me so at least I'll still have another grand". He said "Hold on" and went to the back. He stayed in the back a long time and when he came out he said "Well, we had a problem with your credit and the finance company won't sign on the loan until we have at least $2000.00 down". Yeah, I should have known better but I was tired, had taken a day off of work and was ready to get the car. So I said ok.

I went to the back and spoke to the Finance Manager who was the size of five bulldozers. Looked like he had eaten half the state. This was at a major Ford Dealership and I just knew he was a professional and wouldn't lie to me. Well, he DID lie to me. When I asked him about my credit he said "well, we found something several years ago and that was a red flag to the finance company".

I was also shocked when I saw my interest rate. It was very high. But I signed and left. A few days later something told me to contact the finance company. I contacted the finance company and asked them what interest rate did they show for me. I don't know what made me ask those folks that. Something did. They repeatedly for some reason refused to tell me and kept deferring me back to my paperwork or the dealership. Finally I reached a woman who told me the finance rate they had for me and it was several percentage points LOWER than that which I had signed for. I then asked her about my down payment and she told me that they had nothing to do with the down payment and that the dealership handles that and that the downpayment goes directly to the dealership.

The Finance manager had lied to me. I called back up to his dealership and spoke to him and he told me that that is how they make their money which is by finding people who need loans and by upping the interest rate where they get kickbacks.

I learned something. God was with me though. Not long after I wrecked the car and was out of the loan. I will NEVER purchase a car from anyone else.

And as fate would have it I am in the process of now becoming a dealer myself. I've applied for the license and will soon take the class and get my dealers license. I can't wait. And I promise to NEVER be a shady, underhanded, CROOKED dealer like the majority of those that exist out there today.

Thanks for putting out this report letting others know to avoid this dealership!
