Complaint Review: Don Rady

Don Rady Don Rady Real Estate Mr. Ready knew about a number of serious defects in the home that he sold to me "as is" and failed to disclose them. One structural defect in a retaining wall will wind up costing me at least 30-40 thousand dollars to repair and is going to make it quite difficult for me to sell my home which I should be able to sell with several million dollars profit if not for the structural flaws that he failed to disclose. Mr. Don Rady, heir to the Rady Children's Hospital Fortune, has a history of shady real estate transactions in San Diego.  I did not know this hen I purchased a home from him through Middleton Realty in late 2010 (New Years  Eve).  I discovered about a year after that that the waterfall feature in our pool when turned on, flooded the neighbors yard who are directly behind us.  He is an intellectual properties attorney and his partner had attempted to buy the home from Mr. RDy, but the transaction fell through when Mr. Ready would not agree to fix a significant defect in the retainining wall that separated the two properties.  He also refused to pay for a termite inspection or roof repair.  I bought the property several months later "as is" but neither the owner nor the realty agency notified me of the defect in the retaining wall caused by two to three very large palm trees and their roots.  The roots had pushed up and started to destroy the pumps of the waterfall feature and the wall.   The neigbor has pictures of the defect from 2007 that demonstrate an approximate 4-6 inch defect that is now about ten inches and listing.  This was brought to the attention of both Mr. Rady and Middleton Realty.  Selling a property "as is " is not the same as failure to disclose.  This website demonstrates that this is not a unique lapse of judgement on the part of Mr. Ready but a pervasive, callous disregard for the individuals that he conducts business with.  I agree with the other victims that this type of behavior deserves the attention of an investigative agency, irregardless of who his "connections" are.

Sincerely,

Another Victim
