I am formally complaining because this man refused to back up his work. He was given $470 for a brake job on my vehicle.

This was two months ago and my brakes are continually squeaking to which he now wants to place new brake pads on and charge me once again for them.

This is his mistake. He used the cheapest possible brake pads to begin with and states this is the reason for the squeak. I asked Don at the time to split the cost of the new brake pads he wanted to put on because I felt this was really his mistake not mine and he wouldn't even agree to that.

I have now found out that the brake pads are not necessarily even the real problem here. So on top of already being ripped off, he was just going to pop on these new pads and "hope" it was the problem. Again I would have thrown more good money after bad.

The main reason for brake noise is CHEAP parts. The second reason is metal to metal contact. There should be a layer of grease between the hub and the rotor/drum. There should also be grease(or pad quiet) between the pads and the caliper, and grease bewteen the shoes and the backing plate.

One more cause is the lack of a chamfer on the pads/shoes othe leading edge where they make contact with the rotor/drum.

Have these issues checked, and resolved. Your brakes will be silent.

No this is not how it happened! I would have taken responsibility had that been the case...but thanks for your interest.

That is not how it happened. If that were so I would expect to take some responsiblity and would not have filed a report.

It nearly always happens because the mechanic wants to use the BEST parts, while the customer insists upon using the CHEAPest. Amazingly, the two are not the same.

Is this how the original transaction happened?
