Complaint Review: Donald E. Duncan - Nationwide Mortgage Management - First Choice Mortgage

Donald E. Duncan - Nationwide Mortgage Management - First Choice Mortgage AKA Don Duncan with Nationwide Mortgage in Mobile, Alabama ripped me off for 3,000. His company was suppose to be handling a modification loan. Which he didn't. He closed his doors and left. I went to him after my husband and I both lost our jobs due to economy, in order to keep our home from foreclosure we hired him to do a mod/he just took our money and closed his doors, nothing more.. Mobile, Alabama

Don Duncan lied to my husband and I regarding a home modification loan.  We had both lost our jobs during the worst time of the economy meltdown, we had a mortgage that wasn't bad originally, especially when we were both making very good money.  The original note was not one of those type loans you were always hereing about.  We put a substantial amount down and our payments were based accordingly to our income. The problem was we didn't have enough money to pay our bills with us both losing our jobs, the savings we had was not enough especially since I had recently gone through some extensive medical procedures due to a car crash 2 yrs. earlier...the savings we had was just not enough to carry us through to be out of work for 10 months...so in desperation we called Nationwide Mortgage and thought we were getting a reputiable company.

I even contacted the BBB and had him checked out...my husband and I are frugile spenders so we actually waited 30 days before going ahead with the modification.  I have to say there was a funny feeling in my gut that made me question this person's integrity.  After a couple more visits my husband said we don't have anything to lose, so we went ahead.  This process was to be completed within 2 months, it drug on for over 6.  A month later he packed up without any warning and closed the business.  He closed his doors and left us hanging and we've heard nothing else from him.

I am now having to file a lawsuit to try and get my money back.  This person should be locked up.  He is not to be trusted, he even claimed to be a christian.  Don made us believe he had been a household name in Mobile for years with the highest of standards.  This person took advantage of us in our most darkest hour.  My husband and I have fortunately never been in this type of situation and really needed someone who we could trust to take care of our problem.  Boy, did we get taken care of...
