We hired APS General, CA contractor license # 750438, to build a small companion unit.  It started out fine, but pretty soon Don O'Conner, the owner, was demanding money in advance of work delivered and threatening to walk off the job.  The final straw came when he demanded $37K more in a payment even though, by his own accounting, we had paid more than he had delivered.  We refused, and he walked off the job.  When the dust settled we discovered he'd delivered quite a bit less than he'd previously claimed.

He has refused to provide documentation to his former bonding company and to the contractors state license board to support his outrageous claims.  The bonding company found in our favor.  The CSLB has refered our complaint to the state attorney general for pending disciplinary action.

Check his license.  You'll see a complaint filed.  Anyone who's dealt with the CSLB in filing a complaint knows this is not a simple/trivial process... It took almost a year before they had fully vetted our complaint, referring it to the state prosecutor and, finally, posting a warning to consumers.

We were not the only people he's done this to.  We've spoken with two other former clients of APS General/Donald O'Connor.  They both told us they were treated similarly.  In our opinion, this is his pattern.

I posted the previous report about Donald O'Connor.  As of this date, all parties mentioned: ourselves, APS General, and the CSLB, have reached an agreement that is acceptable to all parties.  We consider the dispute resolved.
