Dothan Motor Company DMC,DAC Bent over with no vasoline Dothan, Alabama
I hate everything about this company. My girlfriend and myself decided to go get two cars from this company on the same day. This was the worst decision we ever made. With in two weeks the car I am currently making car payments on messes up,the power steering pump goes out I called DAC and speak to my accounts manager Anita and she pretty much say there nothing they can do and that I have to pay car note no matter what. I tried to get it fixed with in there company and this guy in the repair shop pretty throw up this bogus figure of 500.00 to bring my car down there so he can fix it. So I decided to get the car fixed on my own. It took me about two weeks to come up with the extra money to fix my car,but I got it fixed for alot cheaper than 500.00.A week after I got my car fixed my girlfriend's car breaks down with her. Apprently the motor blew up. We called DAC again told them that her car was not running. We got the complete run around from them and got absoultely no help from them what so ever. We tried to put the car in there "shop"but it cost way to much. So we let the car sit and made our payments. While her car is sitting we are using my car for everything. Before long my car breaks down and we are vehicle less. So just to give you a time line with in 3mths of getting these two cars both are broken down, both vehicles need a new motor. I called DAC and told them and the person at the time I thought to be my accounts manager that we were carless and we both have to get back and forth to work and we need a working vehicle. Again DAC does nothing. We had to borrow a vehicle from a relative just to get back and forth to work. About a week after not having a vehicle my girlfriend and myself go to the dealership and to talk to someone. They tell us that if we give them back the two vehicles back plus 3000.00 a piece they would put us in something else. I talked to one of there managers and he got nothing accomplished. Well with all of that being said. I am still paying on my car. The car my girlfriend had has been paid off and put in a junkyard.

If you're going to buy a used car (or two) "as is", there is one step you cannot skip. You have to take it to an independent mechanic to have it checked out BEFORE you buy it. A simple one hour inspection (usually less) will tell you whether or not you are buying a piece of junk.
The only way that car salesman can pawn off lemons is to have buyers that are willing to buy lemons. When you sign the "as is" paper during purchase, you're agreeing that any mechanical issues after the sale are your responsibility. If you do this without knowing the true condition of the vehicle, you're just rolling the dice with your money.
This goes on at used car lots everyday and is not unique to any particular car dealer. It's the way the industry operates. That is why the FTC mandated the buyer's guide noting the "as is" sale.
