On August 31, a friend and I went to Double Dave's at Wm Cannon and Brodie Ln at Austin TX 78745. We got there approximately 8:10 PM. We ordered 2 buffets with drinks and tipped before the meal. I will never make this mistake again!

To begin, the buffet ended at 8 PM and we were not advised of this until after we had already purchased the buffets. We even had another friend who came in at approximately 8:25 PM and they sold her a buffet as well.

In addition I brought up the fact to the GM Chris Clemes that the ice machine was not producing ice and could he please fill it up. Chris replied that "they had a busy lunch rush and the ice machine had not caught back up yet." I asked him if it normally took 8 hours to make ice and he took a very don't-care attitude and replied that he "didn't know the logistics of the ice machine."

He also mentioned that "the drinks are cold already." There is a convenience store approximately 50 feet from the store in which they could replenish the machine. I mentioned this and Chris gave me a look that conveyed to me his disdain of my being in his restaurant.

To top it all off, he began throwing the pizza away about 10 minutes after my friend purchased her buffet at 8:25 PM. We were all under the impression that the buffet ended at 9 PM because we did not know that the hours had changed 2 weeks prior to this event. We were even sold buffets respectively at 8:10 PM and 8:25 PM. That's almost 30 minutes after the buffet had closed!

Chris advised me that pizza over 45 minutes old has to be thrown away by law. That is fair enough, that is the law. I just wonder how long that pizza had already set up there by 8 PM because when we arrived at 8:10 PM it already looked kind of old.

I advised Chris that my friend had just purchased the buffet only 10 minutes prior. He was very rude in telling us that the buffet had closed at 8 PM, but he was willing to take her money for a buffet at 8:25 PM. We exchanged a few words and Chris demonstrated his poor customer service skills. He really did not care about his clientele.

After some negotiation, we were about to reach a compromise in that Chris said he would make us a pizza. I was ready to settle. That seemed like a fair resolution.

But Chris' apathetic attitude was prevalent. He advised me that I shouldn't be upset about the ice, that he didn't care, and that if I didn't like that then I could "write a letter to my local Congressman."

That set me off. I asked Chris, the General Manager, if Double Dave's was in the business of writing laws now. Chris advised me to leave. I told him I wanted to at least finish the meal that I had paid $9 plus $1 in advance tip. He told me "NO, I will call the cops." He called the cops and I left. The cops showed up after I was gone because I still had friends there dining.

Is this any way to treat a paying customer who also brought 5 other friends (paying customers) to eat at their establishment? My money will no longer go to Double Dave's Pizza Works. I am writing a letter to their corporate office and the owner, David David Owens and I urge anyone who reads this to boycott Double Dave's.
