I love to read. The initial offer of four free books lured me into a situation where, even though I eventually ordered 11 books, they kept accusing me of not fulfilling the initial agreement to purchase 4 additional books. It turns out there are so many categories that don't qualify that it is very difficult to fulfill the agreement. Doubleday ended up charging my credit card for the amount they accused me of owing.

I called for an explanation and the customer service agent said information sent with the first shipment contained a brochure with details about the agreement -- even though these details were not divulged up front. This is definitely a trick on unsuspecting consumers who believe this company is above board.
