Doug Biasi at 5150 Designs is a full blown thief! We hired him to convert our van into a mini RV. He led us to believe that he knew what he was doing. We paid him $25,000 up front to purchase the necessary parts for the van. He gutted our vehicle. He did very little work, which was completely useless. His build looked like something in a high school woodshop class. It was horrible! Our van sat in his garage untouched for months. We kept asking about the progress and gave us so many excuses, i.e., I had a heart attack, my guys were sick with the flu, I was not feeling well, I had another job that needed to get done, etc. After 6 months of delays and excuses, we stopped the project. When we went to retrieve our vehicle Doug refused to hand it over. He said we were in a contract and we did not have a legal right to take the vehicle. I called the police! The police came and spoke to Doug. He reluctantly gave it up. We had to tow it off his property because he stripped the vehicle. He sold our seats on Ebay! We have a pending civil case against him. He never responded to our lawsuit.

Won Judgment Against Doug and Kristin Biasi

Doug Biasi and his wife Kristin are full blown thieves!  Doug was working for a van conversion company right next door to our friends martial arts studio.  My husband often times would see vans coming out and looking really nice.  My husband started a conversation with Doug and inquired about converting a cargo van into a mini RV.  We decided to do business with Doug based on the work that was being produced.  A couple months later, Doug let us know his business was moving to Camarillo, which was right up the street from us.  Unbeknownst to us, he had a falling out with his previous partner, which happened to be the master builder.  You know, the one who did the actual conversion.  We had no idea Doug didn't know what he was doing.  In any case, we were really excited about getting started and signed the initial $25,000 contract.  We paid Doug up front for 100% parts and 50% labor.  We would check in every week, however, progress seemed really slow.  Month after month there was little to no progress.  Our van sat GUTTED, collecting dirt and dust.  The work that Doug did perform looked like something out of a high school woodshop class.  It was horrible! We kept asking Doug about the progress and he gave us so many excuses, for example:

  • I had a heart attack
  • My guys were sick with the flu
  • I was not feeling well
  • I had another job that needed to get done
  • A truck broke down behnd your van and I couldn't move it out of my garage
  • And there were many many more....

We gave Doug many opportunities to redeem himself.  We were trusting, kind, patient, understanding, extremely flexible, and unfortunatley gullable.  After 6 months of delays, lies, and excuses, we stopped the project.  When we went to retrieve our vehicle Doug refused to hand it over.  He said we were in a contract and we did not have a legal right to take our vehicle. I called the police! The police came and Doug reluctantly gave it up.  We had to tow the vehicle off the property.  Doug not only gutted our van, but he sold the seats on eBay for $500, which he tried to pocket,  In addition, he sold us tires that were too big for the vehicle.  The van wouldn't turn!  After retrieving our vehicle, we went back to his location with our demands.  We wanted the parts we paid for or refund our money.  He wouldn't do either.  He said he didn't want to get into a "pissing contest" with us.  We informed him that we were ready for that.  We hired a civil attorney and sued Doug, Kristin, and 5150 Customs.  On 6/27/2015 we WON our lawsuit.  We received a judgment for $37,384.45.  Here is a link to our case in the Ventura County Superior Court:  ventura.courts.ca.gov/CivilCaseSearch/CaseReport/56-2015-00471154-CU-BT-VTA.  We are in the process of collecting.  After winning our case, we hired a collection attorney who has been in the business for over 30 years.  We may not get any money back, but, we will continue to fight for as long as it takes.  This is not about money, but about principle and what is right and fair.
