I went for an initial consultation with Dr Alan Kingdon in Jan 2001 at the Cosmetic Surgery Clinic in Harley Street, London. I had a prominent chin and asked if it could be reduced. He said yes with liposculpture (liposuction) it could and that he could quite easily remove the fat from my chin and it would give me the desired look. What I didn’t realise is that the only way to reduce the shape of my chin was a genioplasty not liposuction, he didn’t know this either so the procedure he was going to carry out was completely wrong for what I needed.

I had the procedure carried out in February 2001 by Dr Alan Kingdon at the Cosmetic Surgery Clinic. At first all seemed to go well. I had a lot of swelling which I was told was normal and would reduce after about 6 weeks. The 6 weeks came and went but the swelling (which was considerable) didn’t go down. Dr Alan Kingdon of the Cosmetic Surgery Clinic told me to wait 6 months for the final results and swelling to disapear.

After 6  months and with a still swollen chin ( I went from a slightly pronounced chin to having a huge lump on the end of my chin) I went back to see Dr Alan Kingdon at the Cosmetic Surgery Clinic who said that he could remove the swollen tissue quite easily.

I had another op at the Cosmetic Surgery Clinic and actually woke up in the middle of the op as Dr Alan Kingdon was removing the swollen tissue from my chin. Dr Alan Kingdon of the Cosmetic Surgery Clinic made an incision under my chin above my neck to remove what I was told was scar tissue. After waiting a few days I went back to have the stitches removed and saw what an awful job Dr Alan Kingdon of the Cosmetic Surgery Clinic had done. Not all the scar tissue had been removed and there was a huge unslighlty scar which was actually  skewiff across the underside of my chin. I was actually quite shocked that Dr Alan Kingdon of the Cosmetic Surgery Clinic had left such an unsightly and awful scar. After waiting 6 weeks again it was evident that there was an excess of skin on the ends of the scar (called dog ears in the business apparently). I had had enough of Dr Alan Kingdon of the Cosmetic Surgery Clinic operating on me so asked him to send me to another surgeon and have the op at his expense. I saw another surgeon who removed the dog ears but was still left with a lump on the end of my chin and the huge, unsightly, skewiff scar under my chin.

I now looked a lot worse than I ever did before! Instead of a smooth rounded chin I had a square, lopsided chin with a huge scar underneath. It made me very depressed and I lost a lot of confidence especially with members of the opposite sex. I would ask Dr Alan Kingdon of the Cosmetic Surgery Clinic for an explanation of why this had happened and he could not give me an answer as to why it happened! Even 2 years after this had happened he hadn’t been able to find out why this had happened which I think is very unprofessional of him.

I finallly went to get a genioplasty (removal of a section of the chin bone) which is the only surgery I should of had in the first place.

I have suffered a lot over the years thanks to Dr Alan Kingdon at the Cosmetic Surgery Clinic and now finally I can get on with my life but I feel as though I have lost 5 years of my life with a huge chin and feeling depressed because of it.

I just hope that no one else has to go through what I went through with Dr Alan Kingdon at the Cosmetic Surgery Clinic.

And I have now found out that afterwards he performed the same procedure on another gentleman who had the same problem as I did!?

And the poor chap had the same post op problems as I did!?

I find this really hard to understand. You'd think that after what happened to me Dr Alan Kingdon @ The Cosmetic Surgery Clinic would never do the same operation ever again but he has!?

Words fail me as to why he would do this.

I just hope that no one has to go through what I and this other man have had to go through.
