Complaint Review: Dr. Asif Rafi M.D.

My son and I have both been patients of Dr. Rafi for 17 years. When he was part of another practice I scheduled only when I could see him. He is a very ethical and professional doctor. I would challenge the individual to produce documentation of what they claim occurred with accusations of fraudulent billing. If anything, I've had bills written off rather than added on. He utilizes pharmaceutical samples to save me money on prescriptions, which can get very expensive when you have a chronic illness like asthma. Since I deal with chronic illness, I've been exposed to many different doctor types. Dr. Rafi has the most extensive training and medical knowledge of any I've encountered. He doesn't just treat his patients, he educates them so that they can have greater control over their asthma. I have tremendous respect for Dr. Rafi as a doctor and as a human being. I have complete trust and faith in him and have referred countless individuals to him over the years. Both myself and my son continue to see him as patients. I have moved to the valley but will drive the extra distance to continue to be his patient and will only change when he moves his practice or retires!!  

In today's xenophobic environment it's completely unfair to say anyone who has a different cultural hertiage is a terrorist. This report should be removed and it unfairly character assinates an individual who doesn't deserve it.

As the evidence of this matter comes to light an undisputed fact proves the good Doctormaynot be suchgood Doctor after all.

It appears as if Dr. Asif Rafi manufactured false patient service records. To recap:As promised on the date of service Dr. Rafisaid tome that he would not charge our children for basic services that he insisted should be provided.We stated we didn't want to pay these high fees to simply test our children's reflexes, breathing and other vitals. He said no charges would come from this visit. As you will read in the initial complaint, this doctor did exaclty what he said he wouldn't do. He charged us months later for these services and attempted to bill our insurance company.

As it turns out, each visit to this Doctor's office concludes with the patient signing an authorization/billing form evidencing not only the services provided by the doctor, but the signature of the patient's understanding and agreement that specific medical services were indeed furnished. Chances are, out of being naive I would of signed them anyway, because I trusted this doctor. obviously he didn't have this authorziation form presented to me while I was there physically for fear I may object to the service charges. That being said, the doctor created an authorization form at a later time and submitted it to the collection agency without a signature. This is the only such form out of the numerous visits I have made that lacks a signature.Our counsel unconvered thisMAJOR fact.

This paticular bill amounts to 1100 Dollars. You do the math. Is this an ethical doctor?

The unfortunate fact is that most people won't have the money to stake themselves a defense against such an unethical medical doctor like this. Obviously this is what this doctor hopes for. I will be sending our findings to the CA State Attorney General for their records as well as the requisite state medical regulatory and quality assurance divisions.

Dear Madam, or should I say Dr. Rafi.You are a stain on the medical industry and your reputation will precede you. There is no ambiguity here. You are an indignant man whom is doing nothing other than trying to take advantage of medically naive people. You operate a nominal pro-bono practice as a guise to your price gouging medical practice where you look for unsuspecting victims to perpetrate unnecessary medical treatments and charges. I am personally a victim of your shady medical and business practices. Let the court of time and the internet weigh out your credence as a medical professional. I'm confident other Asif Rafi victims will come forward.

I am a mother of 2 children who has been a regular patient of Dr. Rafi for the past five years.  He has been an excellent doctor and a caring individual.  When I had expressed financial issues in the past, he discounted and even wrote off several of my office visits.  I have never experienced this, with another physician, in my life.  His office is also child friendly, and the staff are great as well.

This family may not be aware, but Dr. Rafi also has an extensive pro bono practice for patients without insurance.  I also can not believe he would engage in fraudulent billing practices.  I am shocked to hear such comments from the above family.  Based upon this family's immature (and mispelled) comments, I have even more skepticism in their complaints.
