The firm Dr. Bass advertises fraudulently online that it makes and sells Bass guitar speaker cabinets. I ordered a standard '2460' model which is two 12-inch speakers along with a 6-inch midrange speaker and a tweeter. I called the firm and wrote in sending a check for $726 for it. That was on March 1st, 2010 - six months ago. Since then I have spoken with Marc Serio, the proprietor of this scam, three times. Serio has all the tact of a used car salesman. Once he said the cabinet was done except for the grill - then a month later he said the cab was done except for the tweeter. The last tme we spoke was on July 6th and he said my cabinet would ship out the next week. He no longer picks up when I call. I wrote to demand a refund. I send any and all evidence of communication I had with this company to the US Postal Inspector's office. I hope this guy goes to jail and gets his a*s reamed on a daily basis.

Custom Bass Speaker cabinet was delivered

My custom Bass Speaker was delivered October of 2011. That was 18 months after I ordered it. It took a  lot of calling Serio at Dr. Bass and enlisting the aid of the US Postal Inspector Service. On top of it all, I had to pay for shipping (tho the $75 was included in the orgonal money I had sent already).

What happened was the BBB in South Carolina put out a nationwide alert on Dr. Bass, the local TV news in Myrtle Beach covered it, and then Serio finally got around to making good on a few orders, mine too. He was not at all gracious about it, either, but he did it.

Before BBB sounded the alarm, tho, many good people who were similarly defrauded by Dr. Bass sought the help of as many state and local officials (who were not much help), and websites, as they could, like Talkbass.com, Ripoff-report.com, and similar forums. They are the ones who are really deserving of thanks. I understand that many many people still are without the goods they ordered and have paid for.

Received a note from Parts Express regarding the Eminence Speakers

Oct. 04, 2010

Today I received a message form Kim at Parts Express who said that the Eminence Speaker (tweeter) that Dr. Bass uses has not been in stock since March. Due to production problems.  Now due in on October 8th. This  is the fourth date I have heard that this part is going to be available by. This whole thing is shaky, but her verification lends some credence to  Dr. Bass' story.

Marc Serio says he is waiting on Eminence tweeters for the bass cabinet I ordered, and for many others. His supplier's website indicates that they will be in on Set. 24th.
