I had been a patient at Dr. Farmer's office for several years. After several miscarriages I was able to have a baby with his help at the time I thought he was the most wonderful Dr. in the world. I had some medical problems that required me to have surgery and my insurance at the time was not very good. It left me with a balance of over 1,000. All the time I was still his patient and still continued to pay on my old balance and keep a 0 current balance.

At the time there was a very nice office manager who said the arrangement was fine. Then about a year ago I started having problems again and went to his office. All the personel had changed and they had a nurse practicioner, Vaughn. Well Vaughn decides that even though I hadn't had a period in several weeks I need to take birth control pills. Well guess what, 30 days later I thought I was dying and went to his office in severe pain, severe!! And before he would even look at me I had to write a check. Then he takes me in the exam room and I had a miscarriage right there!

Since then I have educated myself and the last thing you give someone that doesn't have a period is birth control pills. Vaughn you caused my miscarriage. And then they tried to cover it up when I called to request a copy of my pathology report from my miscarriage they told me I didn't need it, case closed. Well after this episode as much as I disliked Vaughn, I still had all the faith in the world in Dr. Farmer, I was bleeding nonstop so Dr. Farmer does a biopsy and decides that I need surgery. Well a couple of days later his nurse calls and says that even though I need surgergy that is 100% covered by my insurance I need to have my old balance of $198 paid before he will do it. This was after he had called me and told me that I needed to have this done right away. When I said that I did not have that money right away I did not receive a phone call back!

My point is this, yes I shouldn't have carried my old balance so long but up until that point there had never been an issue. I always paid on it. I had been a patient of Dr. Farmer's for 7 years. And Dr's take an oath not to abandon patients. He had just received a check from my insurance for over $900 because I had a miscarriage in his office. A miscarriage that his Nurse Practicioner caused. Within 1 week of having my records forwarded to another Dr. I was turned over to a collection agency for $198, after I had told them that I would still pay it.
