After seeing Dr. John Moore, MD, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, (AR), a so-called specialist in Gastroenterology, now I understand why Arkansas is ranked among the worst states in the U.S. for health care.

Dr. Moore is a Gastroenterology specialist in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Dr. John Moore, MD missed the simple diagnosis, which was corrected by another doctor. Adding to our issues prompting us to warn others about his questionable tactics was his misrepresentation of the insurance co-pay. Dr. John Moore, MD, Fayetteville, Arkansas failed to submit insurance paperwork properly and failed to correct errors on paperwork with insurance company.  So we paid the bill under threat of collections, even though if insurance had been submitted correctly, we would not have been stuck with a $4,500 surprise bill. Nice staff, though.

Sounds like it is not the doctor's fault

First of all, in all fairness, the doctor doesnt submit the bill to insurance, it is his staff that does that, so I dont think its fair to slam HIS name here on ROR.

Next, since you are the one who has the contract with your insurance agency it is your resposibilty to make sure everything is done properly so your bill gets taken care of.  You didnt say what this mistake was, did you know if it was caught quick enough by you, the insurance may have covered it anyway?

I am NOT saying you did this, but some people are so unfamilliar with how insurance works that they just ignore the bill thinking "well, my insurance should have paid it, have my doctor take it up with them"-----Thats not how it works.

Is it early enough the insurance can reemburse you? Possibly. Find out what the mistake was, if you dont, then yes, the patient is responsible.
