Dr. Martin Jugenburg Liposuction complication that resulted in a brain dead patient Toronto Ontario
Dr. Martin Jugenburg performed liposuction on my friend last month. He was rushed to St. Michael's hospital in Toronto where he is still in the ICU in a virtually brain dead state. Dr. Jugenburg is a board certified, fellowship-trained plastic surgeon. You can now find his smug face on the website of Dr. Frank Lista in Mississauga. Though my friend had his surgery done at another clinic, it sickens me to see this butcher working at a new clinic like nothing happened.
Because he is a plastic surgeon, I'm unable to get any sort of media attention. It's like he has a license to kill with no accountability at all. I'm beside myself. I've lost my friend and I don't know what to do. I can't get anyone to pay attention to this issue. They treat it like a normal complication just because he's a plastic surgeon. As far as I can tell, he's directly responsible for this and there is absolutely nothing that I can do about it.
I'm very frustrated. To see him continuing to work with no investigation is a hazard to the public at large. I think all plastic surgeons should be stopped from performing these operations with no formal training. That's right, I looked into it and I was shocked to learn that they receive no formal training in liposuction in school. Their program does not train cosmetic procedures so they pick it up afterwards like any other doctor performing it. But when you talk to them they act like they're some sort of specialists in it. I wish I could do something about Dr. Jugenburg and I am disgusted at our medical system and our media for allowing this to go unnoticed. How many more people are dying or in the hospital because of these animals? We'll never know because they treat it like any other medical procedure and won't give it any attention. It just gets swept under the rug quietly.
I hope somebody holds him to account for what he has done but I am not holding my breath. And Dr. Lista should be ashamed for hiring this quack. Dr. Lista is the Past President of the Canadian Society of Aesthetic (Cosmetic) Plastic Surgery. You'd he would know better...

It seems very strange that you would accuse her of being angry when she sounds like a concerned friend. Further more you claim to be someone who knows of his work and defending the Dr. like he is your brother. Very strange indeed for you to just show up here defending him... Dr. Jugenburg certainly has some supporters who appear to be more than supporters. Appears they know him very well!! Is it you Dr.? You have time to make over 9,000 replies on realself so i imagine you make time to post all these comments that have the same writing style and wording!!

Dr. Jugenburg performed breast augmentation surgery on my girlfriend six months ago. As I was not (at first) happy with her decision to undergo breast surgery I decided if this was what she wanted I was going to be sure she had the best doctor we could find. After many great referrals and long and exhaustive research we decided on Dr. Jugenburg.
During our consultations (we had a few, I had many questions for the doctor), Dr. Jugenburg made us (mostly her) feel very comfortable about the procedure. He fully explained everything from the initial blood work to the post augmentation checkup's.
Six months later Stacey is very happy with her "new breasts" and 2 of her friends will be seeing him in the new year.
I sympathize with whomever posted this report but your anger and ignorance do not make for a credible complaint. Dr. Jugenburg is a highly respected doctor. There are always chances of complications just as many medications may have a chance of side effects. I'm sorry your friend had complications but I don't believe falsifying a report will change anything.

This is a false report. I question who posted this. The patient in question had a surgical complication, which is an unfortunate reality in surgery. Complications do happen. No surgeon, no person is perfect. However, the date when this complaint was posted clearly shows a malicious nature to it as at the of posting was long after the problem was treated. This patient is not brain dead and never was anywhere near brain dead. Please check your facts.
