Complaint Review: Dr. Ron P Gallemore

     For me, this week was spent seeing 3 physicians regarding a vision problem.  I was ultimately referred to Dr. Ron Gallemore at his Retina Macula Institute in Torrance, CA.

    This morning I was doing some online research regarding my condition and went on to do a "Google" search for Dr. Gallemore and came across a "Ripoff" report by Lauran.  I was surprised by her accusation that Dr. Gallemore was only licensed an an Anesthesiologist and proceeded, as her report suggested, to check his credentials on CA medical board.

    Well, I don't know who Lauran or the folks at UCLA were looking up but Dr. Gallemore is a licensed "Physician and Surgeon" per the CA medical board website.

    Regarding her accusations that he has anger issues, that was not my experience or impression.  Dr. Gallemore's office is extremely busy and he is all business but extremely competent.  I also work in the  medical field so pherhaps I am more in tune with his demeanor, but when you are referred to a physician who specializes in Retinal conditions...well, it's serious business.

    Perhaps Lauran was expecting a casual, "Hi, how are you, how are the kids", encounter, similar to seeing her personal physician of many years.  For me, Dr. Gallemore's professional, all business approach was comfortable and appreciated.  He did greet me by name, introduce himself and offered his hand to shake....considering what he does with those hands, I was almost surprised.

A website that purports to be in service of consumers has a responsibility to its readers to perform basic fact checking before publishing remarks like this one.

How does providing a venue for anonymous persons to post mendacious, libelous rants serve consumers?

I consider myself among those fortunate to have a retina macular specialist of Dr Gallemores caliber here in the South Bay.

As for as an angry attitude one can easily surmise that is simply the effect that Lauran of Palos Verdes Penninsula has on people.

This negative report is totally opposite of my experience with Dr Gallemore. He has basically saved my vision with office procedures on one eye and surgery on the other.Besides his medical expertise , he has a great attitude, always willing to answer questions and is available. I have spoken to him at 2:00 in the morning and he had the same pleasent demeanor as during the day.There are closer Drs but I wouldnt go to anyone else

DR RON PAUL GALLEMORE IS A BOARD CERTIFIED OPTHALMOLOGIST
according to the ABMS  the overseer of medical board specialties. He is also a Phuysician and SURGEON according to the State of Californis Medical Licensing Board.

His credentials in the area of eyes is spectacular. Trained at Jules Stein at UCLA his training, practice of medicine and level of care is spectacular. He is the personal physician of our family including one member over 80 years of age. He probably sees more critically ill eye patiens in a day than most Doctors see in months.

Please remove this brutally dishonest portrayal of Dr. Gallemore.

As an addendum to my previous rebuttal I have attached a signed copy of Dr. Gallemore's response to my informing him of the false defamatory statements made on www.ripoffreport.com by "Lauran" a patient who I believe received the same excellent care that I have received from Dr. Gallemore. I have spent many hours in Dr. Gallemore's office and countless hours discussing matters with Dr. Gallemore and have only observed quality care and attention from Dr. Gallemore and his staff. I remain shocked and offended by the inappropriate and false statements made by "Lauran" on this website.

Folks, let's be very careful about what we accuse others of. I DID heed "Lauran"'s warning and went to the California Medical Board to do my own research, as she intelligently suggested. When I did, I was disturbed to see that none of the accusations she made about this practitioner seem to be valid, according the Medical Board. He does not appear to be licensed as an anesthesiologist as Lauran claimed, but as a surgeon. Although Board certification is not specified on the Board's website, you cannot conclude that he is NOT Board Certified in Ophthalmology. Sounds like her reaction may have precipitated from an unresolved medical condition, or a personal conflict of some sort. My point here is that consumers need to take these comments with a grain of salt, and at least do further research to fully substantiate any claim of wrongdoing before they broadcast such accusations. I have a consultation with this man soon, and I will let you know what my impression is!

I am a long-time patient of Ron Gallemore, M.D., as well as an attorney. The accusations posted by Lauran regarding Dr. Gallemore are not only false, but amount to libel, slander and defamation of character. Contrary to Lauran' statements, Dr. Gallemore is not an anesthesiologist. In fact, Dr. Gallemore is one of the leading Board Certified Ophthalmologists in the country. Dr. Gallemore's educational background and medical training is second to none. He graduated from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, one of the premier Medical Schools in the United States and graduated from the Ophthalmology Residency program at the Jules Stein Eye Institute, UCLA School of Medicine, where he was Chief Resident.

While at UCLA, Dr. Gallemore was the director of a Biophysics Laboratory specializing in the study of cellular mechanisms of macular disease and is currently a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the Jules Stein Eye Institute and is the recipient of the Jules Stein Eye Institute Alumni Research Award. He is registered with the Medical Board of California and has never had a complaint lodged against him in nearly 15 years of medical practice. In fact he has been an expert reviewer for the Medical Board of California. Dr. Gallemore is also Board Certified with the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a fellow of the American Society of Retina Specialists. As a care provider for the Venice Family Clinic and the EyeCare America division of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, he also provides care for patients in need at no cost or at a reduced fee. Dr. Gallemore actively volunteers his time and services to the disenfranchised and impoverished. Dr. Gallemore has an impeccable reputation, has a premiere educational background and training, and is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist. The statements posted by Lauran are false and without merit. (She is clearly not in need of an Ophthalmologist so much as a psychiatrist.) I would recommend Dr. Gallemore without hesitation.
