More like SHAFT Kings!

I sent these jokers $9000 from my debit card on a Friday before the third week of college and second week of pro football.

I made a $5 wager to take advantage of a promo they were running. That evening I sat down to begin wagering and discovered my account was locked. When I contacted them through email (there is no phone support or live chat) I was told that there was "unusual activity". How is that even possible?

My bank said the funds were collected by Draft Kings and I wagered just $5. In order to allow me to use my funds they wanted me to take a selfie holding the driver's license that I already sent them. They had one other demand. They wanted my BANK STATEMENT! What??

I informed them that this wasn't going to happen.  Offfered to scan my debit card which would confirm that the card belongs to me. They responded with the same demands. This is still going on and it is now Wednesday. The last communication is from them is that they're closing the account and would contact their "payments team". I'm looking at minimum total of at least one week until my money is returned. Stay away from these clowns. Worst customer service ever as well as being thieves.

Painfully obvious that you work for Shaft Kings. Just another layer of your scam of a sportsbook.

Re: the selfie. I agreed to take it.

Re: the $5 wager. There is nothing unusual about taking advantage of a promo, no matter how much "you can afford". YOU created the promo for new customers and I opted in. Not very complicated. They didn't wait more than a few hours after before they locked it.

As far as the scan of the credit card not representing proof of ownership:

1) In order to make than $9000 deposit, I had to get a one day only increase from the card maximum of $5000 from the bank. As you know, banks have a rigid authentication process.

2) When you make a deposit with your debit card, the Shaft Kings website logs you on to a secure server and you have to sign in to your bank with user name, password, and answer security questions. Only the owner would know all of this information.

3) Shaft Kings never even responded to my offer to scan the debit card. You DEMANDED the selfie and bank statement. When I refused the bank statement, you just repeated the demand. I told you a second time that I was not sending a bank statement and to return my funds. You kept the account locked.

When you missed my deadline on Monday about releasing my funds that you were holding hostage, I contacted my bank to file a complaint against you for fraud. Even the banker couldn't believe your demand of a bank statement. She stated that a bank statement should never be used as identification. She asked if I spoke to anyone at Shaft Kings. Of course, that is impossible because you can only be contacted by email. The "live" chat is a bot.

It was only after I told you that I was filing the complaint that you began a discussion of sending my money back to me. Then after another delay of a day, you contacted me on Wednesday to confirm my mailing address so I could wait even longer for you to mail me a check! It is now Thursday, so the soonest I will see my funds is tomorrow, Friday. One full week without access to my money.

Your absurd comment that since I can "afford to make $9000 in bets, I can wait a week for them to be returned" is laughable. How is that even relevant? Your brazen demands for a bank statement, absolutely horrific customer "service" and the locking of my account, resulted in me not being able to play college or pro football for the entire weekend.

I was asked if I wanted to permanently close the account. I gave you one last opportunity to redeem yourselves. I said that I would drop the complaint at my bank if you would respond to me in lass than 8 hours for customer service with actual answers, not robotic drivel. Added that if you require a bank statement to be a customer at Shaft Kings, I would never be interested in doing any business there. In response, you permanently closed the account.

Good riddance

You sent them $9,000 and made a $5 bet? For a Promo? What a $100-$250? bonus?  Yea, I think anyone with half a brain would see that as "unusual".

Scanning your driver's license only shows them that the person sending the license has the license in their possession, but it doesn't mean it is them. That is why they wanted a Selfie. They can see that the person with the license is the same as the one holding it.

The only thing scanning the Debit card would show is that the person who is contacting them has possession of a debit card. It doesn't mean that the debit card belongs to that person.

And again a person who is using his card illegally would not have access to the bank statement.

If you can afford to spend $9,000 on bets, you can wait a minimum of a week for your funds to be returned since you thought you could just say that you were you and are upset that they needed more proof.
