Dream Products, Inc. did not disclose "processing fee" in print ad or on website Van Nuys California

In the company's print ad in the July25-27,2008 issue of USA Weekend and on their website, the company offers "free shipping and handling" for certain orders but nowhere did they disclose that they add a "processing fee" to an order. It is only disclosed when in final stage of checking out on their internet site.

We feel that this non-disclosure is misleading to the buyer.

I called the company after finding the website was not operating correctly.  When I said I wanted to place an order the first demand was for my credit card information. I hadn't even placed an order yet!!  I argued, saying this was not the usual procedure one would expect, but the company insisted that she needed to have this before she could enter the order into the computer. Red Flag! I refused to do this and hung up. What I have read on this website told me that I had done the right thing.

I, too, expected free shipping for ordering 2 of the item. I am sure I would have been trapped into paying the processing fee at the end of the order.  I am learning very quickly to check with places like The Rip Off Report for complaints before placing an order from a newspaper or magazine ad.

This is the second time this week that I avoided getting ripped off.  A day or so ago I was ordering a trial of a new medication -- but very quickly caught on that I would have been dragged into subscribing for a regular monthly supply -- no doubt, very hard to cancel at a later day.

The moral of the story? -- always check 'em out!!
