Was desperate for a loan, after having to send my son to a rehabilitation facility for a heroin addiction. Was contacted by Dreyfus Lending Bureau of America, and was told that I qualified for a $5000.00
loan. with payments in the amount of $151.38 a month, for three years.

After sending all my employment, banking, and personal history, I was faxed a copy of the contract, which I signed and faxed back.  I was then called by their representative, Ms. Abby Oliver, and was told that I needed to send collateral money to them acct. my credit history. All this was stated in the contract, that I might have to send in some kind of collateral money.

I sent $481.39, which included Western Union fees, to a Ms. Paula Lamoth in Jamaica. I was then told that the amount was not enough and the lender, ( Ms. Lamoth ) needed an additional payment in the same amount. I told Ms. Oliver that I couldn't make another payment. She advised me that her company was willing to pay 1/2 of the amount to help me secure the loan. I sent the payment of $239.99 to Ms. Lamoth.  The next day, I was told Ms. Lamoth would not except 1/2 from Dreyfus and that i needed to make the other 1/2 to show good faith that I could repay the loan. I sent an additional payment of $239.99 to a Ms Tanya Robinson in Jamaica. because Ms. Lamoth was not in the office on that day.

The following day I was told by Ms. Oliver that Ms. Lamoth required me to take out a disability policy to protect the loan in case I was hurt or sick and couldn't continue my employment.  The amount was $289.00.

I refused, and demanded my money back, because there was no clause in the contract saying I had to take out an insurance policy, which I already have through my employment. I told Ms. Oliver this was breach of contract, and wanted my money returned now. She informed that since I wouldn't take out the insurance, I cancelled the contract, and would get my money back in 30 business days.

I was desperate, and stupid. Please don't let this happen to anymore innocent people. Thank You JB
