I purchased a 97' Pontiac Sunfire from Drive-Time, and no less than a year later the engine blew. So they did a short payoff of $900 for that vehicle and put me in a Ford Countour, which I might add can hardly pull hills and has very slow take-off. So on Oct 4th, 2003 my 3rd payment for the Ford Contour was due, i didn't have the whole amount because my hours were short on my job and a traffic ticket was due as well, so I spoke to the Store manager Paul Sheard and he said that he would take a partial payment until the 16th of this month.

I said ok went up there and talked to him again and gave him my partial payment which he said was fine. Then the Next day drive time calls and says they cannot take partial payment and they will be at my home or work to tow my car. I explained to them that Paul and I had a arrangement. The first lady yelled and said were coming to get the car anyway and hung up in my face. her name is Marie.

The second lady Named Harriet which isn't even in collections shes a sales manager because how convient that the collection manager was out today, stated the same thing and said even though i made arrangements w/ Paul (which decided to go on vacaction so he was not there to verify that i came by and spoke w/ him) i have nothing in writing stating that Me and Paul had a agreement and either I make full payment today or they're coming to get the car, Mind you i'm only 4 days late.

Saying that you have to be on time for the first 6 months, and shes telling me it in the contract which it is NOT. So i call customer service and gets Richard who is suppose to be a mediator but he doesn't know a d**n thing and he's just a waste of time. So my advice to anyone who is about to purchase a car. No matter how messed up your credit is. DO NOT GO TO DRIVE TIME. They have several complaints in the Better Business Bureau as well. They should shut all of the Drive Time/Ugly Ducklings down and file a class action lawsuit against the whole dishonest company.

I really appreciate you guys feedback. Well they were threatening to come get the car on thurs. still. So on Friday morning my mom went up to drive-tme with the rest of the payment, and they refused it, saying that we should of came yesterday like we were suppose to, so either turn the car in or they will repo it. So me and my mother which is the cosigner went up there to turn the car in before they could come repo the car from my job and incur any extra charges. They gave us a piece of paper stating that we turned the car over, which i don't understand half of what's written. and no later than 2 or 3 minutes later some guy was putting a red and white "for sale" ticket on the car and running it thru the car wash before we could even get out the parking lot. I have to admit i did have to cuss the lady out because she pissed me off so bad. I had to make her sign the release paper because she acted like she didn't want too. Actually my mother is in bankruptcy and i think they made a mistake by selling us the car in the first place. Corporate found out and probably told them "they don't care how they get the car back just ge it". i'm assuming, but anyway me and my mother are going to talk to a lawyer one day next week so we'll see how that goes. Maybe we can get a class action lawsuit, i don't know. I just know what they did wasn't right, but if you guys have anymore opinions or feedback, please don't hesitate to respond here or my personal email address msscott100@yahoo.com

They did the same thing to me - if you read the report I wrote. It's in there. Anyway, now that I am older and wiser :) let me tell you that they can threaten all they want (well they can't actually. What they do are violations of laws regarding collection procedures. ) and they cannot CANNOT CANNOT come repo your car b/c you are a few days late. In fact, they can't take it even if you are two weeks late. Next time they call, just hang up. Hang up and pay when you can. call me if you want. 770-380-6285

Are you sure they were not using scare tactics with you? These types of companies usualy use scare tactics because they have you by the
ba!ls due to your credit rating. I seriously doubt they would have spent the money to come and repo the kind of car that you have. It would have been a total waste of thier time for a payment 4 days late. Plus, they are making tons of money from you in interest payments alone.

BTW, my advice to you is to call as soon as you realize you may be short, and get it in writing. Also, the roads of Atlanta are dangerous enough...SLOW DOWN!!!!
