We bought our 19 year old daughter a car at Drive Time in Colorado. She is also on the title. She was rear ended 4 days after we purchased the car. Even though the car could have been repaired according the to Collision Center and Insurance Adjuster, Drive Time's Insurance Loss Department chose to "total" the car out, and receive payoff. They were sent a check from the Insurance Company, which we never saw, nor ever signed off on. This process took one month.  Meanwhile, Drive Time continued to draft our bank account for car payments on a car they considered totalled. They have now sent us a demand letter for the balance owed, which the insurance co. didn't cover because we were upside down on the car due to Drive Time's enormous prices. Drive Time did, however, offer us an opportunity to purchase another car from them. So, we decided to purchase the same model of automobile. We put $1500 down on the 1st car which was a 2008 with 40K miles on it.

The vehicle we now wish to purchase is the same exact model, a 2006 with 90K miles on it, however, they now want $2900 down. Their explanation for this is that prices increase daily. I haven't never dealt with such rude individuals. Also, we got a call from the Finance Dept yesterday wanting to know when we would  be making our "LATE" payments. The Finance Dept. didn't even know the car had been totalled out. This has been a horrible experience for my 19 year old daughter who will now have a balance of $3400 reported to her credit if we aren't able to pay Drive Time the balance on the car ASAP. She had this car for FOUR days and was rear ended while sitting at a red light. The other party was ticketed. Through NO fault of her own, she is now going to have a bad mark on her CLEAN credit report at 19 years of age because Drive Time is disgusting and has no desire to work with us. Even though THEY took our finances in to their OWN hands by choosing to total out the car and cash the check from the insurance co. without even consulting with us. The car could have been repaired. But Drive Time saw a chance to make money off of an innocent 19 year old girl. They are a disgusting company with rude individuals working for them. They were so nice to us when we bought the car, but now they have turned in to monsters who only want $$ and have used my daughter's accident as a way to make more $$$.
