I bought a vehicle from this company after being employed by them for almost 4 years. When I bought the truck I was told I was being given the employee discount. Imagine my shock to see that I was being charged $10,500 for the truck. That was in no way discounted. After paying on time for over a year, I was terminated from DriveTime due to unethical practices in the recon center. I was not a part of the unethical practices and therefore I was terminated. Well I finally found another job and got back on track with my payments. Then I got behind after several incidents with my family. I would get caught back up only to fall behind again and again. I finally thought everything was going to be ok in Feb. 2006 when I made a large payment. According to my calculations this would leave me with only about $750 due on the truck to pay it off. WRONG!!!!!! DT tried to tell me that I still owed over $1500. I asked what it was for and was told it was interest and late fees. I said I had paid everything that I was told to bring my account current. They stated that didn't matter, I would still owe this amount. They never gave me the account history like I asked. Said they didn't have to. Well now my truck is repossessed and 6 hours later I still can't get any answers as to how I go about redeeming the repossession or getting my belongings out of the truck. I have said I would never recommend purchasing an automobile from DT since this whole nightmare began. I know what DT recon centers operate like, I worked at the recon center for 2 years. If anyone would like information about the supposed 52-point inspection or the experian reports that are supposed to be run on the vehicles, I can tell you all of the unethical practices allowed to continue at DT. I can tell about the forgery and other illegal practices that DT commits on just about every sale. Ever wonder why there are papers that DT claims you signed but you never saw, it is very easy. The salemen or managers usually conceal the papers and then forge your name for you. It happens every day in the dealerships and at the recon center where most of the DMV paperwork is completed.
