I purchased Driver Mender after having an issue with my earphone port.  I read online that many people have had issues with their earphones or speakers - basically a "not plugged in" message, even when they are plugged in.

The "fix" was to update the driver.  One of the suggestions gave the link to Driver Mender and within a few minutes and $29.99 later, I was on a tech support chat with a technician helping me install remotely.

After more than an hour and a half, he concluded that my computer has lots of issues and needs repair.  He then went into a long sales speech to inform me of how expensive it is to take your computer to a repair shop and how it isn't guaranteed...blah, blah, blah.  I began seething as he continued.

What do you know?  For a mere $299 he could remotely fix everything for me and life would be wonderful...my computer would last 7 years....blah, blah, blah.

At this point, I stopped listening.  I asked to speak to his supervisor.

I informed the supervisor to uninstall Driver Mendor immediately and refund my money through PayPal.  He uninstalled it.  I'm waiting to see if the refund comes through.

Interestingly enough, they sent me an e-mail confirming that I wanted a refund, and their e-mail was flagged by my fraud detection with a big red box that cautioned me not to open it because it could contain a virus.  (And I don't even  have super strong security settings on my e-mail.)

In short, don't waste your time.

It doesn't work, and I think had the driver worked for my issue the tech would still have found a reason why I needed another $299 in repairs.

Disgusted.  Totally wasted my entire morning, and my speakers STILL don't work!

Now I'm wondering if I should be worried that this guy had remote access to my computer for so long, and what info he might have been able to take from it.   One of the questions he asked was what I use my computer for and if I ever do online banking.

BEWARE of this company!
