I put down a $1,000 down payment for a vehicle just as a layaway. It was at another lot, and I was to test drive it the following Monday and if I liked it, I would've signed the contract. They gave me the contract the same day I put the down payment down, which is not what I was told would happen. I cancelled the contract before even test driving it, and I was told everything would be fine, and that I'd receive my refund within 7 to 10 business days. It has been almost over a month now and I've just been given the run around. They tell me it was deposited, but I checked with my bank and it wasn't; then they tell me I need to go back to the location to swipe my card again because they lost the information!

Not only that, I received a notice from them saying the car would be repossessed due to non payment. I never even saw the car! I am a new buyer and went to them because of their advertising; that they approve everybody regardless of credit. I can't believe they put me through this!
I have called and emailed them several times. I've been patient with them but I haven't seen any results. This is my first step in reporting them. I will take this up with Better Business Bureau after this, and possibly any local news stations.

After contacting Better Business Bureau, I still did not receive a response from Drivetime. They had until June 10th to respond to the BBB complaint but I decided to call Drivetime again because I could not stand waiting around for my refund. I was told that they tried getting in contact with me, which I didn't receive any calls or emails from them, and again I was told to go up to the dealership to have them swipe my card and credit the money. I did this and the money was refunded. BBB followed up with me and informed me that Drivetime did not respond by the deadline so I updated my report about getting my refund.

I was still very disappointed that I wasn't contacted by Drivetime with any sincere apologies after such an issue. However, I did receive a call from their customer service this morning (June 15th) extending their apologies out to me, and offering a $100 as compensation.

Though what I went through was a complete, prolonged inconvenience, I truly do appreciate the phone call and gesture. At this point, I am satisfied with my refund and compensation but unfortunately, I will most likely not go to Drivetime again.
