I hired Dyann Callahan through the internet company Elance to illusstrate a children's book I wrote. The book means a lot to me and I could have hired any number of illustrators but this conartist did a great job convincing me that she would be the best for the job.
To make a long story longer ........ she's done nothing but made promises and told lies. She has produced no work and I've paid her over $700. She has blamed the Elance website, said her son was in the hospital, she's waiting for paint to dry (seriously) - - everything you can think of but the truth about why I haven't received the work.
Finally, today I decided enough is enough and when I went to report her to the website, she has mysteriously vanished. She has withdrawn her name as a freelance illustrator with the company. She's nothing but a fake! Everyone beware! I'm not even sure if the illustrations she showed me to get me to hire her were even her work.

I only worked with ONE client in KY and the project JUST ended in JUNE (this is dated march), Dana Greenwell but she is from Shelbyville,KY and the budget was over twice the amount HERE and the major part not funded until late MAY I had thought this a joke. Since this is not my

Addressing the work
I worked with Dana Greenwell from Shelbyville, Ky on her book about Cora, "Whats the Derby?" and will post her comments from MAY/JUNE months past this, so I am surprized to see this. She did come into the project and asked me to do a style like "Lynda Farrington Wilsons" even though shes ON Elance, I made my own style for this as I do not copy. I have all sketches and all layers and versions.To see the slander here, that frankly makes her liable as I pay taxes and this is my business, so I will be seeking to counter this as this was meant to hurt my busines and reputation.

To be honest, I would not think this was the same client, as I was a victom of a malacious and cyberbullying report before BUT one sentance is one thing the client had stated before, wrongly. About Elance. Its an escrow site. People fund first, then release AFTER they get work and approve it. its impossible to be RIPPED OFF. She was funding things as late as April and paying up to June. She couldnt pay me in May and June if I had no account or 'withdrawn" as she incorrectly states to run off my business there I guess. She wouldnt have been able to fund or pay things Jan thru June if I had no account.
Future work had been planned in May
PLUS the client, Dana Greenwell I referred as an author here in KY when I was asked and we were to work on a few more things coming up. Sadly THAT publisher is who showed me this, so I will proceed as planned as the illustrator(but I doubt they would want an author who does this to coworkers) but the biggest thing is in May and June when we spoke of working together again and going to conventions etc- she never mentioned she had done this horrendous thing here. She never said a word on doing this. Thats what hurts most from someone who lives 20 mins from me and told me all was okay and she was happy. I wont be able to look at Dana Greewells 'Whats teh Derby?" without being sad now when it comes out.
