Last Month (May 2008) I paid 16 cents per kilowatt hour and my bill was $129.00. Around the 20th of the month I had solar screens put on my house and a programmable thermostat, I live alone and cut it OFF all day and run it on 78 till morning and shut it off all day when I go to work. It cools off in about a half hour when I return. My usage last month was 740 kwh's and this month it was 1340 kwh's, not even double the usage and my bill tripled.

Based on the rate of 16 cents per kwh last month I expected to pay a little over $200 based on 1340 kwh's, I read my meter on the 18th, same day they do and calculate my usage, it was correct but they raised my rate in less than 30 days to 26 cents per kwh!!!! I get a bill for $350.00, the highest electric bill I have had in my entire life! Im 46. I looked at the comparative rates in Texas for June 2008 and the highest rate was 22 cents per kwh. I was livid! Still am. As other people here who have been raped by these criminals no point in calling, I tried and was on hold for an hour and gave up. To hell with it. Ill pay it but its the last one Ill pay from these crooks.

I called them a while back and they wouldnt even give me a straight answer on what rate they were charging me! I went back to Reliant on a fixed rate a little while ago of 16.5 cents which would of only cost me $221..Not $350 for the same usage!!! Just typing this infuriates me. This excuse of well the rates are going up doesnt cut it, no one else has 26 cent per kwh rates! Not even close! Anyway Im done with them and will write formal complaints to the state tomorrow and anything else I can do to return the favor of screwing them the same they screwed me and all their other customers. They will end up being shut down Im sure, Ill look forward to it! Look elsewhere for your electricity needs, save yourself some money and grief!
