My daughter has a 2008 Dodge Caliber.  Approximately 2 months ago, I had my daughters transmission fixed.  About a week after we got it home, she lost the ignition key which also opened up the car.  It was a keyless entry key.  I called around for about 2 weeks trying to find someone to come and make me a replacement key.  Before the holidays I just couldn't find anybody that would come.  I did speak to one company and they said they could come out.  That it would be a $19 service charge to take a look and the cost would be between $180 and $300.  I was shocked that they could not get me a fixed price.  Anyway, they were not able to come out after all because they did not have a technician that wanted to drive out to my house.  They thought it was too far.

So this past Monday I contacted this company that I found on the internet.  I called them and asked if they did keyless entry keys for vehicle.  They said absolutely.  I gave them the make, model and year of the vehicle.  They told me that it would be between $180-$220, but that the technician will call me to schedule.

Later on I received a call from a Ron.  He asked me if the key for the ignition was the same for the doors.  I said that my daughter had 1 key that fit the door and started the car, however, it would shut off if you put in drive (I believe because it did not have the chip in it) and she had the other key (keyless entry) to open up doors, set alarm and start the car.  He got confused and misunderstood me and said that it sounds too complicated and that it was going to be more money and what not.  I told him never mind that I would call him back later.  About 5 minutes later, I got a call from Jasmine (office manager) asking me to explain to her what was going on. I told her that he did not understand me and that it was the same key to open the doors and it was to start the ignition.  She said fine I will explain to him and it will be $180 (not between $180 and $220 - $180), also they did not say $180 plus tax.  Anyway, I said great when can he come.  She said that he would be out there about 2 pm.  So after while, Ron called me and said that he would be there about 2:00 pm and I asked him at that time if he took Credit Cards.  He said yes but that he would need the physical card.  I told him at this time that we would need to change the time to 6:00-6:30 because that is what time I would be home to give him the Credit Card.  He said that he could have Jasmine fax me over the Credit Card Authorization but I did not want to do that because they would have tried to charge before the work was done.  I did not want to take any chances.  So we set it up between 6:00 and 6:30.

He showed up about 6:20.  The office called me and said that he was trying to call me that he was there and nobody was answering.  I never received a call.  He did not even come to the door.  Anyway, I went outside to tell him that my daughter would be right out.  My daughter came out and I went in to get ready for the Gym.  I left to go to the gym.  I told my daughter to give him the American Express card and if he did not take that I gave her one of my Visa cards.  After I left, and was not reachable, Ron told my daughter that he knows the office told her mother $180 but he was going to have to charge $260 because it was too cold outside.  I was baffled but could not reject it at that time because my daughter could not reach me because I was in an exercise class.  Never in a million years did I think this guy or this company was going to try and jack up the price.  I believe that they did it because they took advantage of my daughter because she is young and he knew that he could get away with it.  So needless to say, when I got home I was furious.  He also tried to even jack it up more when he was writing the invoice.  He started to write $280 instead of $260 plus tax - so it would have been a little over $300 and my daughter corrected him and he wrote $260 plus tax which was $281.45 - which was $86.60 that this guy was going to probably put in his pocket.  I called that evening and spoke to Veronica.  I told her what Ron said and she could not believe it.  She said that she would hand this over to her manager and that she was certain that she would take care of it.  Well Tuesday, January 13, 2015, I never got a call from Jasmine.  I called her that afternoon and Veronica told me that she would call me within the hour.  Never heard from her.  I called again that evening around 10:30 pm.  Veronica again answered and put me on hold for 15 minutes.  I hung up and called back.  This time Jasmine answered and told me to hold on.  You could tell by the tone in her voice that she already was getting defensive and had an attitude.  When she came back 5 minutes later, I questioned her about what she had quoted me.  She said that YES I quoted you $180 but Ron told your daughter specifically that it was going to be a lot more work than he expected and that he was going to have to charge $80 more.  That is a down right lie.  Why would my daughter make up such a stupid lie.  That guy just did not want to get caught lying and he did what he did.  Jasmine got really rude with me on the phone and I basically just told her, fine you want to act like that and rip people off, I will call American Express and dispute the charge.  And that is exactly what I did and American Express refunded the amount that I told him they screwed me out of.  In addition, this idiot Ron kept the copy of the title to my daughter's car and basically refuses to return it.

So there you go Crooks Unlimited.
