I received a letter in 12/06 regarding a declaration of flood insurance was needed for my E Trade Home Equity Account. I called the mortgage company and one was faxed to E Trade. I received another letter in 01/07 & 02/07 & 03/07. Multiple faxes were sent in all of these months and I was told "not to worry about it, I will not be forced placed". Well, I was and I didn't find out for 11 months.

I was reimbursed for the forced placement but not the interest. Additional money was paid to the interest when it should have gone to the principle. And I can't get an answer, except write a letter to corporate. I'll be damned if I don't get a phone call on the 2nd of the month if payment isn't there on the 1st. Maybe I should say write a letter to corporate?

I can't get an answer out of anyone how to recoup the money and I am tired of getting upset and getting attitude & even snickering on the other end of the line.

Lets see what the letter can do

What Interest?

The money spent on home insurance, flood insurance, and property taxes comes out of your escrow account. It has nothing to do with your actual loan and interest on the loan. So no "extra" interest was paid during the time you had the flood insurance. So there would be nothing to return. So you can calm down, they returned the money for the forced placed flood insurance. You can rest easy, you have not been screwed. Hope this helps.
