I ordered a bar table for my apartment on the first of June and was told that the table would arrive within 2-3 weeks and was assured that it wouldn't take any longer than 3 weeks.

Upon the third week, I called to check in and was dismissed the first two times. The third time I called was three days after the promised date and was told with an unassuring tone that the table would arrive by the end of the month. Mind you that would have been 5 weeks after the date of purchase.

Soon after that call I recieved a call back from Virgina the owner of E & V Furnitiure, she said that I should come and get a refund because she does not want to provided service to someone who does not trust the company.

I was treated unfairly because I did not spend a substantial amount of money on the bar table. And my needs as a consumer were not important.

A Great Place To shop

#4

YES! The owner is rude at times! Yes the owner talks down to people! What about everthing else.

The Sons that work in the store are great. The uncle that does repairs is the most WONDERFUL person you will meet! Product they carry is nice! My Dinning room, Bedroom, and Living room all came from this place! Its all Made by Ashley and cost me $2,000 less than if I would have gone to a Ashley Store.

Lets talk delivery!!! Came all the way out to my home "Charge of course" and set every thing up!

I understand that some people dont understand guest service! Its not always what you say but how you say it!!! Yes the owner is hard to deal with! Dont deal with her. I have shopped with E&V 3 times and I will be back! I learned the first time that when I go in the store I look for the sons! If their not there then I leave! I tell all my friends and family that E&V is a great place to get deals! This is by far my first choice. I dont ever waste my time looking at the other companys!

I KNOW where I will get GREAT PRODUCT, at a GREAT PRICE!!! If Virgina would just work on the people skills then the place would be 100%! With that said, I WILL BE BACK TO SHOP AGAIN, AND AGAIN!! Thanks for the GREAT Furnitiure!

This company is family owned and are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Where I was working we had to furnish students apartments. They were the ones we bought from and established a good bond between companies. They have made a few mistakes here and there or didn't have what was needed at the time, but Scott and Virginia go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure all needs are met. I would reccomend them to any one. At least they were nice enough to do a refund rather than blowing you off and keeping the money like other places will do.

E & V Refuses to Give Customer Paid-In-Full Bar Table

#4Author of original report

Sun, June 26, 2005

Shortly after I posted my disgust with E & V Furniture, the owner of the company called my phone and left a message saying, "Amy, this is Virginia from E & V calling in response to your call. Come down and get a refund because I'm not going to bother bringing this in because if you don't trust the company, you really should shop elsewhere." This was shortly after the woman told me to "grow up" during our previous phone call because I told her that I was frustrated and questioned the integrity of the company because they couldn't provide me with an explanation as to why my table had not arrived within the promised time. She continued to yell at me extremely rude comments while I kept my cool and told her that I didn't appreciate the lack of professionalism on her part. She continued to make accusations that it wasn't professional of me to be calling from work since she saw ASU's name and number on her caller ID. What she failed to realize during her leaping assumption was that I did not work at ASU; I am a student living on campus and was phoning from my apartment on my day off.

At the bottom of the receipt, it states that the sale is final and that there are no refunds or exchanges and that this agreement cannot be broken. By the end of her unacceptable yelling streak, I really did not want the table anymore because I do not want to give business to a deceptive company whose owner lacks any self-control. From her message, the table obviously hadn't shipped yet and I didn't appreciate being lied to once again. It is interesting, however, that as soon as her company is called into question, she voids out her own contract on the receipt and refuses to give me my promised product that was already paid for in full.

After receiving this ridiculous voicemail message, I went back to the furniture store and got a refund. Virginia, of course, did not face me in person, rather she had her employee charge my account the amount of money that I paid.

I have phoned Bank of America and there are no pending transactions on my account for the money that E & V owes me. The representative even called the processing department and nothing is there from E & V. I have a family friend who works for a local television station and if I don't receive those funds in my account by the end of next week, E & V better count on me phoning this friend to get the media involved. Perhaps bad publicity will teach the owner that customer service and following through on orders is how to keep a company in business.

Indeed, I could have gone to a more expensive furniture store because I have for other items of furniture that I purchased recently. However, I did not find the kind of bar table that I was looking for at any of these stores. I went to E & V because it is near my school and it seemed to be a trustworthy business, of course until you meet the owner.

So beware all college-aged and other consumers of this business. You may not get the product that you are promised nor your money back and still have to endure the wrath of Virginia. It makes me sick that a local business tries to take advantage of college students, or anybody for that matter.
