This company is known in our area for their scams.I found out a lot on them after being ripped off by them .

They took in this Ford E-150 Van from a Lady needing some transmission repair work. They told her she also needed a new oil pan that was rotting away, gas tank was leaking and needed repair,

They told Jen that she needed a brake line , a battery, engine work, etc...

They convinced her to allow them to start the work totalling $2800.00 and had her give them a $600.00 Deposit.

They did shotty repairs, she drove the van and trans.was still not fixed. She took the van back and after problems with Earl Bros transmission and auto repair shop She decided to let them keep the van for the money owed to them for the repair work.

that was back in July of 2006.

In October 2006 I had an engine blow in my personal Van I use for delivery to my customers. So I began looking for a Van

In November 2006 I noticed a Van sitting at the Earl Bros shop Parking lot for sale.

I decided to look at it. Ed Andrews The manager at that location Told me that the Van was taken for non payment of Repairs and They would sell it to me for $3300.00
It is a 1995 E-150 8 cyl.

I needed a Van and told them I do a lot of driving. Ed tells me this is a really good van and that they had just Rebuilt the Transmission , put a new Radiator, new battery, New brake line.

We took it for a test drive. I noticed the ABS (antilock brake system) Warning Light was on. Ed says " not to worry its just on cause they put a new brake line in, no problems with it"

The van seemed to drive good and I thought Since this is a repair company that does Transmissions etc. Then this Van should be in real good shape.

I bought the van for $3000.00 Then The NIGHTMARE began
Two days later I realized this van had an oil leak. I take it to a local shop and the guy says "Cant fix it the pan has been leaking a long time and it is rotted out in several places.

The guy trys to patch it for me with jb weld just until I can afford the $568.00 Repair to Dismount the motor ,raise it up to install a new oil pan.

then I realize hey, this transmission is leaking too. Didnt know at first cause it was mixing with all the oil leaks.

Drove down the road from the repair shop and the dash falls out onto the floor. Im thinking Oh No what else ?

I go to put gas in the tank and keep smelling excessive fumes. The van has running boards so I decide to take a look underneath. While I'm putting gas in the tank , It's running out on the ground due to rotted out fill tube and hoses.

Of course Earl Brothers didnt know a thing about this (Yeah Right) thats a lie and I can prove it Keep reading Please

Finally I am super angry so I go back to Ed who sold me this piece of Junk (knowing the condition), and I waslk into his shop and ask Why the trans is leaking if it had just been rebuilt ?

I tell him of all the other things we found out the leaking gas tank, the leaking oil pan there is even a knocking sound in the engine periodically.

He says" we didnt know of any problems with this van. It is used and Quote " that's what you get when you buy a used vehicle"

They tell me they will check the trans leak but thats all
I guess that is because they advertise such great trans repair work.

I then look at the title with the previous owners name on it because I had a 30 day tag and had not got t new title yet. I took a chance and went to her house to see if she would give me some information. DID she ever ?

She showed me a receipt for so much repair work with list after list of what they said they were fixing.
She also gave me a signed statement of how they told her that she needed a new oil pan, gas tank repair, transmission rebuild, among other things

Remember, they told me that they had no knowledge of any other problems. What Liars.

I decided to take them to small claims court to get my money back and give them this piece of junk back. We had a court date of Jan 23rd 2007. These Liars Told the Judge they had only been under the vehicle a couple times to repair trans and do brake line work.

They didnt know that I had a list from the woman with their letterhead and charges and work with at least 15 items they were working on and some they were not fixing because she didnt have the money to spend more at that time.

the judge has the list, and the repair estimates from the other shop. They also used the van for four months July /06 until Nov/06 when they sold it to me

What a pack of scum these guys are.
I would never ever do business with them again. they have a side business of talking people inot high price repairs and scarring them into thinking they need it all done
Then if they can't pay they take their car and sell it for profit

Almost any given day you can drive down Woodville road in North wood Ohio and find autos for sale on their property.

When I was there to complain about htis van at Their shop On woodville road,A young couple came in to get their plates and give Earl Bros their Title

The city or Fed government should look into the practices of this scam operation

They are cheats and liars. Buyers Beware

Today is Feb. 28th 2007 and I am still waiting for the Judge Or Magistrate to send a determination through the mail.

In the meantime I have to carry cardboard to put under the van when I make a stop at a customers driveway due to the excessive leaks . I have to check oil continously put new oil in every day or every other day. and check trans fluid levels, keep that filled. .I have spent quite a bit on fluids that are leaking

The power steering is making noises since day one, the gas tank leaks while your filling it, the oil pan leaks worse and worse. I have sent a letter to the Judge about the urgency of the decision, Still nothing, God only knows how long he will take to make a simple decision

This vehicle is potentially dangerous. If someone tosses a cigarette when Im putting gas in it could go up in flames.

BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE or Earl Bros. Transmission shops. James Earl owns them all and he's a Slick talking scam artist

They have shops in toledo Ohio ,Maumee Ohio , Fostoria or Fremont Ohio.

If I were You I would steer Clear and stay away from these Liars

EARL BROTHERS HAS SETTLED THIS WITH ME

#4Author of original report

Sat, March 17, 2007

TODAY IS FRIDAY MARCH 16TH 2007
WITHIN THE PAST WEEK I POSTED FLYERS IN THE TOLEDO OHIO AREA DIRECTING PEOPLE TO A WEBSITE TELLING EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED WITH EARL BROTHERS SHOP.

I then contacted a local T.V. channel consumer action dept.

I then plastered the area with the flyers daily and handed them out to people on the street all around their shop.

I was determined to get something done.

Yesterday one of the Owners stopped me on the street and wanted to talk.

He was very polite and said he wanted to settle this with me.

He had never been at the shop were a manager had treated me rudely , and wanted to make things right.

we had two conversations yesterday and today. He agreed to give me back the purchase price I had paid for the van , and take it back.

Today at 5pm Mr earl gave me cash, and we settled the problem

Thank you mr Earl for stepping up to the plate and solving this problem. I now have more respect for you as a co owner of this company

I have dismanteled the website that I had built to tell the story, and I have stopped all distribution of warning flyers

This dispute is closed and I have at least got back my original purchase price

You are not reading the whole complaint.and your very un informed if you think a used junkyard oil pan will fix this problem. that statement was stupid.

The transmission shop took the van from a customer Lied about its condition then sold all the problems they knew about to me Read before you comment

The oil pan is only one of the major problems This is a Ford van 1995 . the engine has to be lifted , old pan taken off, oil drained, new gaskets, new pan . engine lowered and remounted, then the transmission leak needs fixed . then the power steering needs repaired, then the engine knock needs fixed, then the gas tank needs taken off to put all new fill tubes and hoses that are rotten , then new tank straps to replace , then the ABS problem they lied about

read man this is not a $20.00 repair this is approx $1800.00 or more in repairs. Take it somewhere else is not the issue I bought this from them .This is the repair shop that sold me this . They supposedly repaired the trans and everything on the van was in good shape according to them

READ. They drove the van 4 months. They also TOLD THE PREVIOUS OWNER WHICH BROUGHT THE VAN TO THEM FOR REPAIRS . THEY TOLD HER SHE NEEDED OIL PAN, GAS TANK REPAIRS ETC... SO YOU UNDERSTAND, THEY LIED ABOUT NOT KOWING WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE

THIS IS NOT A PRIVATE OWNER THIS IS A HIGHLY ADVERTISED TRANSMISSION AND MECHANIC SHOP. DOES THERE REPUTATION MEAN NOTHING TO THEM ? THIS IS IN THE HANDS OF THE COURT I AM NOT FIXING THIS JUNK .I AM SUING TO GIVE THEM THIS VAN BACK AND GET MY MONEY BACK. I AM JUST WARNING OTHERS ABOUT THESE SCAM ARTIST

From the way I read your post, most of your problems could be taken care of in one afternoon at any station with a lift and a halfway decent mechanic. If you don't have one, find one through your friends and treat him decently. Your big mistake was listening to a dealer in the first place, but get past that part before you actually do some damage that is costly to repair. As for the $568 oil pan, you can get one for $20 at most any scrapyard.
