EARNHARDT TOYOTA SCION Payment Packing, Dealer Adds Price Gouging MESA Arizona
Beware Car Shoppers!!! As a professional vehicle sales person, I feel it is my duty to warn consumers of business practices I have witnessed as a representitive of Earnhardt Toyota Scion. Payment packing, this is the practice of lying to the customer about what their payment actually is. This is done to assist the Business Manager or F&I manager in selling or cramming in extra products without you noticing them or at least their true cost.
For example if you purchased a camry for 20,000 out the door, put 2000 down financed 18000 at 0% for 36 months your payment can only be 500.00. But if your quoted 535 and dont know any better and believe the salesperson you have 1260 dollars of fluf in your deal. Your friendly Finance manager then offers you a product that you like for an additional 5 dollars a month. You agee to it thinking 5 times 36 is only 180 dollars but you really spend 1440 on this product and trey are banking on you not checking accessory line on contract. This happens daily at Earnhardts!!!
Another Earnhardt Scam is VTR or Vehicle Theft Registration. Complete waste of 199 dollars. Earnhardts has gone so far as to have it preprinted on their forms. The word optional does appear next to it in their defense. Their assistant managers and some sales persons say " It is part of the registration of the car. The State of Arizona has nothing to do with this ripoff product. Alarm installed at 699. This is a joke. The approximate cost of this alarm system is 35 dollars.
You can get the same alarm, Starter diabler, shock sensor, motion detector, from any one of 1000s of part time teenage employees at circuit city or best buy for about 100 bucks. Auto Butler one of my favorites I like to refer to it as Snake oil. Again a product that costs the dealership less than 40 dollars. They apply a chemical sealent to the vehicle and machine buff it. Then claim to guarentee against paint fade for 3 years. Read your new Toyota vehicle warrenty your paint is protected on the limited new car free Warrenty. Beware!! Or just dump you wallet in the nearest trash can before heading to Earnhardts.
There is a way to protect yourself from these predators. Go online and get preapproved at Toyotas corp web site or your favorite credit union or bank. Then bring in a bank check or draft and do not buy the extras. You can even purchase the Toyota extended warrenty from any dealership in the country and it must be honored at all 1100 plus dealerships in the us and canada. Good luck people.
