Earthlink damaging and incorrect tech support corporate personnel rude unhelpful Ripoff Atlanta Georgia

earthlink is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with in my life. Their technical support guy named: Mr. Venkatraghavanv, (and that is the correct spelling) informed me in poor English that I could download only the anti-virus software and not all of the other junk that goes with it.But first, I had to un-install the previous older version of Norton anti virus that I had running. then, after wasting over 4 hours of my time, he still was not able to accomplish what he promised me, and said he would call me back in a half hour.
He never called back, and my next call an hour later I was hung up on immediately. I called again, and asked for a manager. then, I got a manager in Omaha who gave me the corporate number to earthlink in Georgia.
I spoke to a Sheryl Bennett who was argumentative and rude. I explained to her that due to earthlink's employee's ignorance, I now have NO anti-virus protection at all, and since earthlink is partnered with Symantec anyway, could she set up a free download of the Norton anti-virus, or send me the cd-rom. she said all she WOULD do is have ANOTHER technical support person call me to see if I could recover the lost program from my hard drive.

I hung up, and contacted Dell support which manufactured the Dimension 2400 that I am using, and their Technical support person told me emphatically NO! Once it is un-installed, it is gone and can not be recovered.
I'm so glad I decided to put my trust in the anufacturer of the computer, and NOT in any earthlink employee.
Who knows how much MORE damage they (earthlink) would have done?

I strongly urge anyone who reads this and has a problem with earthlink to call the "priority" number to their corporate headquarters in Atlanta, Ga. and tell them exactly what you think about their service. Then, find another internet provider. Then, contact your local news agency and report their practices.earthlink is the WORST!!!Their technical support makes manual typewriters and the good old USA postal service look good.If anyone would like to join in a class-action lawsuit against earthlink, please post your reply here.

Another number to call directly to the third tier management level in the USA is: 1-866-860-1053.

When prompted, enter extension number 5000 if you're calling in May, enter 6000 if calling in june, enter 7000 if calling in July, etc...
