A year ago I called Earthlink support with a problem I had with a laptop. After 2 hours on the phone the woman from India could not help me BUT talked me into getting a Linksys router from Earthlink for $14.95. I decided I would rather pick a router from the store instead. SORRY, she said, she had already pressed the button and the order was on its way.

SURPRISE Not only did Earthlink charge me $89 for the router I started receiving monthly bills for a wireless support service I NEVER SIGNED UP FOR!! I called to complain and was told by customer service to pay it for 3 months and then I would receive a rebate for $130! That sounded good. BUT I never received that rebate and the monthly bills kept coming. I was also told that the first rep form India could have cancelled the order for the router even after the submit button is hit.

So I was lied to repeatedly!

After paying for 3 months I spent almost another 2 hours trying to climb up the customer service ladder and finally got a supervisor who said I would receive a rebate for the router but that I must keep paying the monthly fee NOT because I needed the service (which is completely useless) but because after all they did send me the router so we would be even.

Dutifully, like an idiot I paid for a year. Then I cancelled the service. BUT I got another bill. I called and cancelled again and was told the charge was dropped and the service cancelled. BUT I got another bill. I called again. Always, it is someone in the Philippines or some other county. I have nothing against the poor CS folks in other countries but let's face it - Earthlink's outsourcing shows me the corporation does not care about it customers - only the bottom line and sucking money and time out of people like me.

HOW MANY TIMES MUST I CANCEL EARHTLINK BEFORE YOU STOP THE BILLS?! And your service stinks with constant timing out and drops during busy times. Whenever, someone asks me about Earthlink I make sure to tell them NEVER to go with that service!
