East Hills Chevrolet- Douglaston Unscrupulous and Rude Dealership Douglaston, New York

I purchased a brand new 2010 Chevy Malibu last year from this dealership under extenuating circumstances. New York DMV would not register my California Saturn after 3 attempts and all the correct paperwork submitted. They are the worst!
I went to East Hills Chevrolet, as I have had wonderful experiences with Saturn, also GM. Unfortunately Saturn went out of business, or I would have headed there first.
Well, these people saw a woman who was distraught and desperate for a vehicle and took me over a barrel. I had to purchase an extended warranty on a new car, which raised it $2,000.00 and I since have learned that the dealership makes good money selling these warranties. I was NOT told I had to have this or I would have headed to another dealership.
I have gone back to the dealer, waited and waited to be told by the manager Bob, to come back Monday. I took time off from work and went back to the dealership to see Mike Lipari, who by the way never called me back after our meeting.
I sat and waited while pizzas were being delivered and food, and finally Mr. Lipari came to see me and eluded to the fact that I had to have the warranty because of bad credit???? Is 740 bad credit?
He told me people have higher credit. I explained that I went to 2 other dealerships and they promised that the Extended Warranty can be cancelled and my money refunded. These are managers of dealerships that I was referred to.
He explained that I went to Bloomingdales and bought a shirt and then went to Macy's to price shop. What is this nonsense?
Read their CUSTOMER COMMITTMENT on their website and you be the judge!!
I can not wait till this car is paid off and gone. Love the car, hate the dealer! Beware, you are trash to them when you leave!

No you didn't have to purchase it.   You're correct that extended warranties are a big profit center for dealers.  As such, they will tell you just about anything to get you to purchase one.  If you had simply said "No, I will not buy the warranty for $2K", they would have sold you the car anyway.  No lender requires the purchase of extended warranties on brand new cars.  That's just a ridiculous story they tell you in order to get you to sign on the dotted line.

You should be able to cancel the extended warranty by contacting the warranty company.  You do not have to go through the dealer to do it.  You can also get your Malibu serviced at any Chevrolet dealer you chose you do not have to use the selling dealer.  And it is true you need to price shop before you buy.
