On Monday 23rd August 2004 I visited Eastern Computer Inc at 425 Madison Avenue, New York.
One of the salesman suggested a deal for the Sony DSC-T1 camera, he told me the camera was 699 at Dixons in the UK, but he would take my Sony DSC-P8 and sell me the DSC-T1 at $460.

So I think about it and return the next day, and found myself being pressurized into signing a credit card slip before a final price had been agreed.

It seems I ended up paying $1227.76 for a DSC-T1 with a spare battery and a 256MB Pro Duo Memory Stick , this includes the spurious $138.88 taken from me without any authorization, as I only signed one credit card slip at the store yet two appear on my statement, one for $1088.88 and one for $138.88, I was given no receipt or credit card slip for either.

I have since discovered that the DSC-T1 sells for $399 on Amazon.com, the battery is $50, and the 256MB Memory card is $79.95 making a total of $528.95. Let's also remember that they took my 9 month old DSC-P8 off me as part of the deal.

Do they really think that this kind of behaviour by their staff is acceptable?. They were aware that this was my first trip to New York, indeed to the USA, that I am from England and was leaving for China the day after the sale. The manner of the salesmen was very forceful and overwhelming, by the time I left the store I felt as if I had been mugged, not far from the truth!. I just wanted to get away from them.
