Complaint Review: Eastern Research Services

Eastern Research Services Company knowingly makes telemarketing calls to cell phone numbers - costing people $$$ Springfield, Pennsylvania

I started receiving calls in the evening (evening Pacific time) to my cell phone from 610-543-2302.

One caller left a message that he was from "Associated Press" and was calling to conduct a survey, adding that he would call back.

I finally had the phone in hand when they called, and talked to"Brian". I told Brian that he was calling a cell phone, and he said "Yes, we know - that's why we pay you $10 to take our survey."

I then told him to remove me from the list. The conversation was short, and ended up in him hanging up on me.

Within an hour the company called back - on my cell phone - asking about taking a survey. I told the woman who called that "Brian" had just called and I was supposed to be taken off their list. I asked her "Are you people stupid, playing games, or what?". She hung up.

I emailed the company (the sales email address included in this complaint) and explained what happened. I received a reply email apologizing for my "inconvenience" and assuring me that my number would be removed.

The problem is - I've been ripped-off. I still have to pay for the minutes.

That a company can reach out and dip into my pocket and steal from me in this way is wrong on many levels.

It would be nice to get a group of recipients together and file a class-action case against the company. Any lawyers out there think there's money at the end of that trail???

In the interim, I will be contacting the Associated Press to try to determine if they actually engaged Eastern Research for their service, and report on just how these services are being rendered.

This would make for a nice little Dateline or 20/20 episode.
