i was hired by Easyhome(rent to own store) as store manager trainee and everyhting was great i was more than dedicated i even broke my finger on the job(i got the care needed) i was the first in the store and the last to leave unfortunatly i was stupid enough to accept the job on salary basis so i was working the most and getting payed the least...i never complained in fact i became friends with my regional manager to a point i trusted him and i asked him alot of carreer and personal questions.
one day i was off work and i thought it would be a nice idea to go check out an Army recruiter(just to check my options) so it was a very nice interview and i really liked the idea of joining the army and serving an honorable cause, but i just had a newborn and it was out of question leaving my son and wife for long intervals... so i never signed or committed myself to anything with the recruiter and in all cases i was overweight... to make things short it was out of question.when i cam back to work the second day i explained to my regional manager what i did the day i was off and that i met up with a recruiter and that the Army is great and god bless em and and .... i expressed my respect and adorement to the Armed forces in general.

HE did not react all his comments were positive ... and the whole conversation was good, i went back to work everything was normal til a couple of weeks down the road one day i was surprised by the manager of the neighboring easyhome branch showing up and then the regional showed up, i thought we had a meeting or an event or something that they will breif me asap...

to my surprise i was called to the back of the store the regional had a Demotion paper with him and he informed me that i was demoted from store manager to retention specialist all because i expressed interest in the Armed forces and i chared it with him ?!?!?!?!? i was shoked and i could not quit cause my wife just had our son and she was out of work and i cant afford to be out of work. so i cant explain how painfull the rest of my work period at that place was. till it got to a point when my wife went back to work and i just resigned. i got my last paycheck and a document stating that i got demoted because i wanted to join the army.

which was not true and not based on any documentation or anything. the reginal blew the subject out of proportion and wanted to demote me for any possible cause.
well i want to say people learn from my experiance and try to be sneaky and dishonest with those people they are not loyal to their employees i have heard alot before i started but i never beleived it till it happened to me.
i am not sure if i can legally do anything so if anyone knows something i would appreciate any help concerning this issue.

""i got my last paycheck and a document stating that i got demoted because i wanted to join the army""

Really? They actually put that down as the reason on paper? You should scan it and post it all over the internet and email it to every newscaster you can find.

Hard to believe that any business would be stupid enough to put that down on paper. It's much too easy to come up with other subjective reasons to demote; later for work, doesn't work effectively with others, seems confrontational to customers, not a team player, expresses displeasure with company policies, etc.
