EAT ON EIGHT Price Gouging, Overcharging New York New York
The restaurant named Eat on Eight, located at 601 West 26th Street, 8th Floor, NY, NY 10001 continues to not update their prices on the menu and when placing orders price gouge customers with inflated prices. The latest argument today was for a handmade sandwich that was a different price yesterday as well as the day before; this has been on going for 16 months on all products. The employee noted after the meal was prepared on yet another day of inflated prices that the bread prices had gone up 75 cents for 2 slices of multi grain bread from the original price which included the bread, his remark was that this price hike started today.
The menu has been unchanged over the 16 months with a small piece of paper stating the menu will be updated soon and bread has gone up 25 cents. I have worked nearby in the building for 16 months now and the menu continues to remain the same and prices vary day by day since there are no other restaurants located in the area and can get a way with it.
This restaurant needs to clearly compile prices that are fair and easily read, make it visible for the consumer and then in turn commit and follow through with the product transaction. I am writing this letter to have action taken place so fair practices can be protected. The restaurant continues to defend their position and acts as if they do not speak English in properly communicating clearly and calmly about the issue. I am adding other city and state authorities with this message in hope someone will correct the problems here and mandate the restaurant to follow up thru with clearly shown updated prices on all items and then follow through with what is being charged.
