Twice within one month's time my eBay account has been taken over by persons with fraudulent intents. The first time someone listed a large amount of items for sale in my account. My banking account was billed and it paid them, 2 weeks after I after I contacted eBay about the problem. Eventually the situation was resolved and corrected. Today, 1/3/03 I received an e-mail from eBay telling me my e-mail address had been changed. I did not make this change. I went to the eBay web site to correct the situation anly to find out that I have been suspended for something I did not do. Am I upset? of couse not, I am ANGRY! Twice in one month's time! Ebay has no actual security to protect a honest buyer / seller. - - -A cut and paste BELOW:

1. Do not EVER use your email address as your ebay user ID. This makes it easy for a hacker to email you an official looking letter that looks like it is coming from ebay. These bogus emails usually ask you to click on links within the email to verify your personal and user information. This is the main way that hackers are getting control over ebay accounts.

2. Make your password a jumble of letter and numbers including at least one capitalized letter. Do not use words that can be found in any dictionary. Hackers use automated programs that can harvest passwords that can be found in a dictionary.

3. If you recieve an email you suspect is not from ebay REPORT IT! Use the "HELP" link at the top of the ebay page. Make sure you forward the email including full headers.

Good luck in getting this problem resolved!
