Ebner Properties of Columbus, Ohio has found a new source of income. Illegal income. In the state of Ohio it is illegal for a landlord to charge more for water than the city (Columbus)charges the landlord.

The water rate in this city for this year (2004) for the first 15 cubit feet of water used, is $1.37. That's $20.55. The bill is less if you use less. Most people in this city pay water bills quarterly. The average bill is about $60.00 per quarter.

Ebner Properties has decided that that is not enough for these people living in one and two bedrooms. Ebner understands that most people know nothing about reading water meters, and most have never owned a house. So, therefore, few have ever paid a water bill to the city.

Ebner charge's an average of $25.00 a month. Some time they get a little crazy and charge between 30 to $40.00 a month. Consider this: One cubit foot of water equals 7 and one half gallons of water. Most people do not use (unless they wash at home) six or seven cubit feet in a month. That would be less than $10.00 a month.

This management company as part of their illegal scheme, has generated by one of their parners in crime, a doucment titled, "water bill". The catch is that you must, send all payments directly to Ebner Properties, on time, or you will be charged a $35.00 "late fee". You must pay this "late fee" or your rent will be in arrears and you will be subject to eviction.

To think that Ebner Properties, the company, is peopled by lawers. How shameful.
