ECM Outlet is a scam.  Really a guy who talks well, but takes your money and disappears.  Took my check for a Tundra ECM and the CEO or Senior Sales manager (one persons, Jeff McKee) and did not provide a receipt or package shipping.  But check was cashed same day.

When you try to follow up by email, phone (either direct line or his line) or by fax, you get no reply.
On 9-12-2011, a woman answered and sounded as if she was a receptionist or directed calls, but today the direct phone line was disconnected 9-12-2011. Above all, do not be foolish as I was and provide him electronic check information.  Mr. McKee sounds very knowledgeable and is friendly, but crafty.  He said I would save $25 and get free shipping for a check over the phone. I fell for it, and know better.

It may be a very very struggling business, but it is more likely that someone is preying on folks like you and me, who desperately need this engine control module or ECM part to fix their vehicle.  If you price an ECM from dealers, they are very expensive -- $1000 or more. So a price lower than what you can find leads you to the door of folks like ECM. Particularly when google results feature them prominently.

The old adage is still true -- if it looks to good to be true, it is.  Even if you are in sore need of a critical part.

If you have been ripped off by ECM, I suggest filing complaints with the following:

  • Detroit Police Department, 313-267-4600.

  • The federal government Internet Crime Center or IC3, at http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx

  • The Michigan Attorney General, consumer complaint division.  On-line form.

I have opened a case with the Michigan AG and you can send them information on this business, if you also have lost money and received no product.  All of these complaints were filed since McKee incorporated 1-13-2011, so you may be able to recover your funds. Keep in mind that all our allegedly stolen funds will add up and get more attention from busy folks in law enforcement.  The form is at:

Be certain to use ecm outlet in your complaint, and add that you would like your complaint worked in conjunction with the open case they have from me. we all need to keep in mind the fraud is alleged, but so far if it walks like a duck .........
