Complaint Review: Econo-Lube & Tune

My wife took our '88 S-10 Blazer to Econo-Lube & Tune for an oil and filter, and air cleaner replacement. When she informed the agent that there was an oil leak and if they could take a look at it, things went bad. They informed her that the transmission seal was leaking and that they could fix it. When the service was complete they had also changed the transmission filter and fluid. This was an extra $70.00.

When she left the facility the truck now had a new noise that it didn't have before. She contacted me and I called them. The manager stated that she could bring it in at her convienience. She did this the next morning on her way to work. She was then shown that where they had done work, there was nothing wrong. She was offered to take one of the mechanics for a test ride, but refused since one had been hitting on her when there the previous time.

Why do shops take advantage of women when they try to do the right thing for their vehicle. If the transmission seal had been leaking the service would not have cured the problem. To do that would require removal of the transmission and torque converter to change that seal. Or if at the other end, then remove the driveshaft and change that seal. They only changed the oil and filter.
