I have a Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart 05. 89000km.
On Jan. 29 I went into Economy Lube for an oil change, the attendant there recommended I get my Coolant, Air filter and Transmission fluid changed (he said it would be good for my transmission so that it wouldn't get damaged in the future). Since my car had no record of getting those done I agreed.

After about 20min they brought my car to the front and I drove off, once I pulled up to the road to exit their parking lot my car all of a sudden went into neutral. I checked the gear shifter, I was still in Drive, so I shifted the gears around thinking that it was just something that happened after changing fluids. I pulled into a gas station to get some gas and it slipped into neutral again, still thought nothing of it. After that I drove for almost 5 days with it rarely slipping into neutral.

On Feb 4 on my way to the movies my car started constantly slipping into neutral, on average every 5min.

On Feb 5, fed up I decided to get it looked at by Mitsubishi figuring they know the car better than Economy Lube. On the way there it was constantly slipping and now the engine light had turned on. After a short diagnoses they found out....I HAD NO TRANSMISSION FLUID! I called Economy Lube services and I got talking to Chris Mutter the manager. He said to get some fluid put inand drive to the other Economy Lube around the corner on Eagle St. because, "they knew more about what they were doing." He also said that he would pay for the cost of the services of Mitsubishi.

Upon arriving at Economy Lube they re-flushed my transmission and I filled out a form for the money I paid at Mitsubishi. They finished showed me the fluid level, upon getting in the car my check engine light was on. The manager there came out and just turned it off and said that my car should work now. I drove around the city for about 15min and my car started kicking into neutral again, eventually my check engine light was back on.

I took it back, and they were just closing. The manager checked the code and then put in some shock fluid, thinking that the fluid was getting to the gears. Now my car starts shifting very hard into reverse jolting the whole car (which it never did before). The manager then turned off the check engine light and said it should be better now.

On my way home not even 5min away, my car slips into neutral, but since they are closed I just go home, upon arriving home my check engine light comes on.

Feb 6, fed up with driving 15+min to get my car checked at and told "it should be good now",  I call Mitsubishi to see if they can diagnose the problem. They say they can get me in Monday at 8am. I get the car towed to the KW Mitsubishi that day.

Feb 8, Mitsubishi calls me at 9am saying that my car will need a new transmission ($8000 for a brand new one). I immediately call Economy Lube and we get forwarded to Chris Mutter again. He says that he will get the car that day around 1pm and take it to one of his shops. We ask how he will get it there, he says "If it's screwed up already I'll just drive it there".  By 4pm I call Mitsubishi to see if he had picked up the car, he hadn't. I talk to Chris around 6:30pm and he tells me he had no time that day and he would pick it up tomorrow morning.

Feb 9, I get a call at 1:30pm from Mitsubishi telling me Chris is there and will pick up the car, but they won't let it go without someone paying for the $50 diagnoses. Seeing as how it's Economy Lubes fault in the first place, I want them to pay for it. He tells me he won't pay for it because I should have taken it to their shop. After going to their shop twice and each time not improving my situation, why would I drive 15+min to get them to do nothing on it. In the end I said I am going to talk to my lawyer and he said "If you want to take it that route then fine" and hung up.

Now I am just waiting to hear from my lawyer.

So 2 days ago Mister Transmission finished repairing, said Chris is paying for everything ($2200) and I can get my car!  Ask Chris if he would give me back the cost of the actual service, but he declined. I'm pretty tired of all this and think I am just going to let it go. At least he paid for the car to be repaired!

Feb 10, We arranged to meet and he would test drive my car. I was told he wouldn't pay for the diagnoses fee at Mitsubishi so I had to shell out the $50 to get my car off the lot.

After a short 10min test drive no problems arose, but I knew something was still wrong. He told me that the fluid probably just had some air and it needed time to settle. I told him I would drive home and if any problems came about I would call him. After about 5min of driving I put my car into reverse and my car jolted very violently then stuttered when I tried to drive, so I called him up and he drove it around for a bit. He said that most cars jolt like that (even though all my cars I've ever driven have never done that) my car then hammered into Drive and Reverse randomly while he drove it again. He told me to take it to Mister Transmission and he would call.

I arrived at Mister Transmission and talked with Jim who would drive me back to the car I took to meet Chris. As soon as we started to drive out of the parking lot my car cut into Neutral and all the problems started again on the way back to Mitsubishi.

Feb 11, 8am Jim from Mister Transmission called me and told me he had talked to Chris and he said to go ahead with the repairs. The quote was roughly $2000 and he would pay for it as long as it was within that quote. My car should be done by tomorrow afternoon, and by then we will see if Chris follows through.
