I attended ECPI back in 2003 while I was serving in the Navy. Instead of doing the traditional in seat I did the online. I had a small child and life in the military isn't always the easiest when I was trying to go to school.

All I remember is that I got dropped because I supposedly didn't pay ECPI my portion of the tuition which came from my MGIB. I called and left messages upon messages and email upon email. It's always a busy tone that takes me right to the voicemail. So basically I took one of those handbook they gave us upon enrolling and wrote a nasty letter to the President of ECPI and gave him a piece of my mind. A week after I sent the letter out ECPI called me and I was admitted back into school.

Months after getting out of the military I stop attending but did not officially withdraw myself. So the bottom line is that when I first started they told me that the tuitions will be taken care of etc etc..

Six months later I recieved a bill in the mail from ECPI and it stated that I owed them $2000.00 for whatever I don't know. I called and all I got was a run around. So I didn't pay for it. This was back in 2004. After that they sent my account to collection through Williams & Fudge and many other collection company to try to get the money out of me.

I will not pay for it because I don't know what it's for. So with all their special add ons and interest and blah blah blah from the collection agency. I now officially owe them $4000.00 because of interest.

I still haven't paid for it. I don't have money or a 'fake' degree to show for and never recieved a clear explanation on why I owe the money. It gets better, a year before I enrolled (In-seat:Nights) my husband had already attended ECPI and was six months away from completing his degree but dropped out because our baby was born and we had to work and had no time for school. So ECPI sent him a bill for $ 24,000. So together we owe ECPI almost $30.000 with no degree to show for and aren't allowed to re-enroll until we pay off what we owe them.

I don't understand how it can be legal or ethical to pay for something you didn't even take. I understand if we had to pay for classes we already taken but for classes that we didn't take yet how can they expect us to pay for it?

I graduated as with an A.A.S. in IT Networking and Security from ECPI Charleston Campus. Overall I am pleased with the school, one teacher I didn't think was up to standards but he has left the school. I have a degree from an accedited school, that has value to me. And I am looking at doing my B.S. online with ECPI as well. Reading this complaint it sounds like overall you violated the schools agreement which states that you must inform them if you have to leave school for an extened time. But I also agree with you that the school is wrong for not explaining your bill to you. Overall this situation sounds like a lack of communication on both parts.

I agree about ECPI. I am currently a student and am wishing I wasnt. They have taken so much money from me. They charged me too much per term then when I talked to FA they said that all the money I didnt use per term would be sent back to my loans. I believed them. Stupid! I got a report from my loans about when they paid ECPI per term and amounts. They have never gotten money from ECPI. I am now getting the run around about where that money is. I am at the Columbia,SC campus. What a joke.

I came in listening to all this crap from the registrars about this was a new campus and that they were still getting things. They kept telling me lies about all the hands on, they told me it was an AS but really its a AAS degree. I started in 07 it is now 08 and they are just getting in some medical equipment. Im having problems finding my own externship since they are not helping me be placed. They gave students that week off in July and that is when they cleaned the campus and brought in medical stuff just because corp was coming. Half of the teachers just sit there and do not know anything they are trying to teach.

Most of my classes I self learned. I am going to give them til Sept to get everything straight, if not Im seeing a lawyer. Half of my class left for another school the other half is just trying to finish this. They are having the same problems as I am and some even worse. For two classes we either taught our selves but sat infront of a comp while the teacher read the news. The other class which was pharmacology, we watched House episodes. I am still trying to teach myself that class. I hate this school.

I haven't attended. Will never attend and truly feel bad for those of you who are attending. I have one simple reason for writing this report. After reading so many reports about ECPI and hearing certain things that (in my opinion) just didn't seem right. I decided I would contact ECPI for some general questions.

I emailed them and ask two 'simple' questions. Or so I thought they were simple.

1. How much does an in-state credit cost (tuition)?

2. Do I have to sign a contract upon enrollment?

I received an email from 'someone' at ECPI, asking me for a valid telephone number. Stating the he'd tried to reach me but couldn't. I emailed him again asking why he needs my phone number since corresponding on email suited me (the customer). He emailed back and said he wanted to 'discuss' things with me. In my final email I informed him that he (nor ECPI) must want my business since he can't seem to answer two 'simple' questions. I have not heard from him or ECPI since.

If someone at a business cannot answer questions upon the first contact from a potential customer/student this leads me to believe they aren't a legimate company/school OR that they have something to hide.

WATCH OUT - BE CAREFUL - and DON'T sign anything until you know what you're signing.

I wish the best for all of you who have had problems with ECPI.
