I mistakenly applied for an Eddie Buaer credit card in their store. They requested my social security number, which I reluctantly supplied becuase the sales person said it was to open the account but would not be part of the account. Wrong! Bauer's agent is World Financial Network National Bank and they use your social secuity number to identify the account and to track in bound calls. They will also share that information. The day I got the terms and conditions I cancelled the account and opted out of all sharing.

I requested all my information back based on the deceptive business practices. Bauer deferrs to the bank, they both say they must keep the information. When World financial gets hacked, I am in big trouble and you can phish their system very easily. Even the President's Office drone has no motivation to correct their misrepresentations.

It's very much against EB's policies, and also ILLEGAL to sign you up for a credit card without your express knowledge. Did you contact eddie Bauer support? Their number is 1-800-426-8020. They will help you with any recourse. It's company policy to help a customer with any complaint in any reasonable way.

As for WFNNB, they cannot legally take your information off file, so that's not their fault. You'll find this to be true of any credit company. Sharing your SSN? Absolutely not. I know the credit agreement, and have dealt with the company extensively. They won't share any information. If someone did, I doubt they're actually affiliated with WFNNB, and their actions are absolutely not endorsed by the company. If your information really has been leaked, be sure to know WHO you have dealt, and not just the companies.
