Eddie Mechanic sabotages car engine while he is supposedly fixing it, so you call him back for more unnecessary repairs san diego, California
His name is Eddie and we know him as Eddie Mechanic. He is a
35-40 year old Hispanic who provides mobile car repair services; in other
words, he has no mechanic shop and will go to customers place to do the
(supposed) repairs. He holds himself out to be an A.S.I. certified automotive
mechanics and wears the typical dark blue overall with the ubiquitous elliptical
name patch.
I first called Eddie Mechanic for a small job having to do
with A/C hoses, which went well. So I called him again a few months later as I was
having trouble passing smog due to white smoke emission from the tail pipe
which he immediately diagnosed to be a Blown Head Gasket and quoted a price of
$1000 to $1200. Now, I am no mechanic, but not only the diagnosis did not jibe
with the symptoms, I also did not have the funds available and asked to have
time to think about his proposal.
I later found out that Eddie Mechanics diagnosis was
completely wrong in that it was my cars E.G.R. valve (and not a blown head gasket) which was blocked with carbon build-up and only needed to be cleaned, which was a pretty entailed job despite its simplicity. So I gave Eddie Mechanic the benefit of doubt and asked him if
he wanted to unblock the E.G.R. valve, which he agreed to do.
So he shows up and starts work only to claim that the job
needed Throttle and Air Intake Cleaner which he did not have (and he is a
mechanic) and which I had to go and get. It took me 15 minutes to purchase this
cleaner from the local gas station, but by the time I got back, he said he had
found some in his truck and that the job was finished; wow; Eddie Mechanic did a
job which takes at least two hours to do in just under 30 minutes. And the
problem was still there.
The following day I opened the hood only to find wires cut
from two different sensors and the EGR purge tank was missing. When I called
him to ask where the part was, he said he took it and was going to bring in a
new and working one, which was an utter lie as the part he took without my
knowledge was in perfect working order.
To cut a long story short, I checked with other folks who
had used his services and it became absolutely certain that Eddie Mechanic was,
and is a crook and a fraud of a mechanic. He breaks one thing in your engine
while fixing another to keep you hooked and desperate to have him come out to
perform more UNNECESSARY repairs.
So beware of this crook and do not let him near your car;
the only thing he seems to be certified in is fraudulent repairs. I will also
be filing a report and complaint about Eddie Mechanic with California Bureau of
Automotive Repair.
